We're looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join the ZPA team, reporting to the Director of Engineering. This is a hybrid role in our San Jose, CA office 3 days a week.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will build the next generation Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) product in the Emerging Technology group. You will play a crucial role in designing, building and enhancing distributed systems components, writing quality code using efficient algorithms and ensuring efficient systems responsiveness is maintained during high load times. You will help us process packets at both ingress and egress points at very high speed so that the client using the system does not perceive any increased latencies. Additionally, you will collaborate with the operations team (OPS) to deploy, monitor and if required patch the changes with fixes and enhancements that scale the systems as more customers/users get added, the engineer will identify hotspots, and alleviate/remediate the situation.

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

• 8+ years of experience developing enterprise applications in a geographically distributed environment

• Proficient C/C++ programming/design, Data structures/Algorithms and debugging skills in cloud environment

• Expertise in Operating System principles and OS like Linux/Unix with understanding of networking concepts including performance parameters of TCP/IP stack, HTTP, REST, protobuf, and gRPC

• Experience in Network Data Path & Socket programming and POSIX Multi-thread programming.

• Advanced design and development skills for high-volume production applications

Zscaler's salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range

$178,500-$210,000 USD
