The Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center (CC) provides services to students in full-time graduate and undergraduate academic programs in the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering, as well as the Peabody Institute of Music.
In addition to providing the generalist services expected of all CC clinical staff, the person in this full-time position will focus particularly on issues related to trauma, including issues such as sexual assault, interpersonal violence, childhood abuse and other traumatic experiences.
This position reports to the Director of the Counseling Center.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides generalist services expected of all CC clinical staff, including: initial assessment, individual counseling and psychotherapy, group counseling, after-hours on-call coverage (as backup to ProtoCall Services Inc., in rotation with the entire clinical staff), crisis intervention, outreach, and consultation services to the university community, with a particular focus on issues related to trauma.
Coordinates and evaluates all activity related to the Center's trauma related services.
Provides training, outreach and prevention, consultation, and professional development on issues related to trauma.
Works collaboratively with university-wide confidential sexual assault resources and provides or participates in trainings for this group.
Communicates with University wide administrators and participates in university-wide sexual assault and/or trauma focused committees.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CC Director.
Education and Licensure:
A minimum of two years' experience providing clinical services to clients whose presenting concerns include a focus on trauma is required.
Experience working in a university counseling center setting is preferred.
Experience in providing psychoeducational programming to a young adult population is preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
Ability to work with a wide range of student issues in individual and group counseling, with special expertise and experience working with trauma related issues.
Knowledge of trauma informed care, Title IX legislation and university Title IX response.
Experience serving as a consultant to members of the university community, including university administrators, regarding trauma related issues.
Commitment to actively engage in practice with marginalized populations and commitment to one's own ongoing development of multicultural competence as a psychologist.
Commitment to the developmental orientation of counseling services.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a counseling center team.
The successful candidate will have strong interest in all issues related to trauma on college and university campuses and demonstrated experience in providing trauma related services to a young adult population.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
