Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full Time, Standards Compliance Director position in the classification of Staff Services Manager II. The position, under the general supervision of the Assistant Executive Director, has full management and supervisory responsibility of the Standards Compliance Department.

Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday 0800 to 1630 except for State Holidays with a combination of on-site and remote work. However, schedules are subject to change based on operational needs.

The position is responsible to manage, plan, organize and direct the Standards Compliance Department. The incumbent has overall responsibility for the oversight and management of compliance with (Title 22) licensing regulations, the Joint Commission standards for Hospital Accreditation, Electronic Health Records Program implementation, Performance Improvement, and Risk Management.

The Standards Compliance Director contributes to the development of hospital policy and participates in the strategic planning process. The Standards Compliance Director demonstrates knowledge of laws, rules, regulations and standards governing the operation of state hospitals, department and hospital policy and procedures and principles of assessment, evaluation, report writing, and effective communication.

Collaborates and interacts with both internal and external stakeholders, participates in committees and task force work groups, and serves as a liaison on policy matters with departmental staff, control agencies, and other internal/external parties. Identifies potential procedural deficiencies, formulates plans of corrections, recommends alternatives for problem solving, and ensures compliances.

He/she prepares reports, conducts research and analysis, and presents summaries and findings. Manages assigned projects, collaborates with multi-disciplined teams, provides updates to the administration, and ensures timely completion. Reviews the performance of subordinate staff, develops and trains staff for current and future work assignments, and supports a safe, healthy, and productive work environment and Equal Employment Opportunities.

The successful candidate must be able to interpret and apply the rules and requirements from Title 22, The Joint Commission, State Licensing, CalHR, department of General Services, Department of Finance, State Controller's Office, and any other regulatory agencies; to have in-depth understanding of governmental practices, principles, methods and processes; to analyze data and draw sound conclusions; to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports; to effectively communicate technical data, facts and opinions; to observe strict and tight project timelines; to work independently; and to demonstrate open-mindedness, tact, flexibility, accountability and integrity. In addition, the candidate shall possess knowledge of the principles of business management including office methods and procedures; electronic data processing equipment and methods; and commonly used office materials/equipment.

Proficiency in office computer applications (ex: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) is a must.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
