Job brief:

We are looking for a Staff Roboticist who is a passionate, detail-oriented professional with a strong background in Robotics. You will join the behavior authoring team and work to improve navigation, path planning, and user interactions to create a human-friendly, effective robot tool to make warehouse operations more efficient. You will also work cross-functionally with perception, testing, product, HRI, and mechanical teams to bring the whole system together, get it into customers hands, and work continuously to make it more effective, and delightful.

In your role, you will:

• Design and implement behaviors that enable robots to work alongside humans.

• Improve autonomous navigation (speed, efficiency, safety & human-legibility).

• Improve our solid foundation for new behaviors to be built on top of.

• Find effective ways to test and validate behaviors.

• Work hands-on with robots every day.

Requirements:

• Professional experience shipping production quality code.

• Experience with writing code and running it on robots, or other, similar hardware devices.

• Ability to work in person in San Carlos, CA.

• A drive to build something that fills a real customer need, where getting a product out into the world is more important than using trendy technology. (We use some Machine Learning, mostly for perception, but our bread and butter is classical robotics, executed well, with a focus on user-centric design).

Nice to have:

• Proficiency in Python and C++.

• Experience reasoning about moving coordinate frames.

• A specialization in one or more of the following: Motion Planning, Path Following, Closed-Loop Controls, Behavior Trees, or Multi-Agent Optimization or ML.
