The Staff Psychologist/Counselor and Trauma Prevention & Education Coordinator provides clinical services, leadership, and training within the Wellness Center's integrated healthcare model to support the provision of outpatient counseling services for students struggling with trauma-related concerns. This position serves to coordinate prevention and education efforts with other campus constituents around issues related to sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and stalking. This position also serves to support the efforts of the Wellness Center (and the College as a whole) to better understand and minimize the impact of homophobia, transphobia, racial stress, racial trauma, and discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or gender identity on our students. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of systems of oppression, as well as ways to address access and equity issues within healthcare and education. Approximately 50% of this position is focused on providing clinical mental health services, including, but not limited to, conducting initial mental health assessments, providing individual and/or group therapy, and providing crisis assessment and intervention. This position will also participate in the after-hours on-call rotation, and thus will be required to live within a 30-minute response time of campus. Successful candidates will be able to articulate ways in which they will assist the Wellness Center in connecting with particular groups of marginalized students who face additional stigma regarding the use or counseling services. Essential Functions:

  • Provide direct clinical mental health services to students, including assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention.

  • Plan, implement, and assess prevention and education efforts regarding sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and stalking within the student body, coordinating these efforts with other campus constituents.

  • Plan, implement, and assess prevention and education efforts regarding trauma related to various forms of discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or gender identity, coordinating these efforts with other campus constituents.

  • Provide support, training, and consultation to Wellness Center staff regarding trauma-related issues, as well as consultation to other college personnel, students, and students' families regarding trauma and other mental health issues.

  • Advise the Associate Director of CAPS and the Executive Director of the Wellness Center regarding internal policies at the Wellness Center and external policies at the College more broadly, in relation to issues of trauma and systemic inequities.
