Stanford University has an immediate opening for Psychologist of the Confidential Support Team, an office of mental health professionals that provides trauma-informed support for students impacted by sexual and relationship violence. This position is integral to creating a healing space for the students we serve and helping them to navigate complex systems on and off campus.

CST is a unit of Vaden Health Services within the division of Student Affairs. CST supports connection, healing, and thriving among Stanford students impacted by sexual, relationship, and gender-based violence through confidential, trauma-informed consultation, counseling, and outreach. JOB PURPOSE:

Provide individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, outreach programming for students impacted by sexual assault and relationship violence, as well as other forms of gender-based violence, harassment, and discrimination.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide evidence informed therapy for trauma-related symptoms resulting from campus sexual and relationship violence. Tailor treatments to identity, culture, and other individualized student needs.

  • Provide a wide range of direct clinical services (e.g., consultation, crisis support, brief emotional support, case management, individual and group therapy) to students to a diverse student population.

  • Provide education about rights and reporting options and resources available on and off campus. Support students in navigating campus and off-campus resources and pursuing university and criminal processes related to campus sexual and relationship violence.

  • Provide crisis assessment, intervention, and management to students of concern or in crisis; assess need for higher level care.

  • Evaluate and respond to emergency situations; provide consultation to campus for urgent/crisis situations.

  • Track students of concern or requiring higher levels of care, participate in discharge planning, and manage referrals.

  • Work with university staff, faculty, and administrators in consultation, outreach, and other collaborative initiatives.

  • Develop campus outreach through participation in educational programming and additional program development.

  • Participate in center meetings and development activities; complete special projects as assigned.

  • Contribute to original research and program evaluation on clinical intervention for students impacted by sexual and relationship violence.

  • May provide supervision of practicum students, pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral fellows, or psychiatry residents/fellows.

Job Requires:

  • PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-approved training program.

  • Completion of an APA-approved internship.

  • Minimum of one year of postdoctoral training.

  • Licensure in California

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Clinical expertise in evaluation, crisis intervention, individual and group therapies, and treatment planning support

  • Proven ability to provide culturally sensitive care to diverse constituencies and to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary colleagues

  • Knowledge of ethical standards, relevant state and HIPAA laws regulating the privacy and confidentiality of health information, and mandated reported statutes

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (oral and written)

  • Proficiency with timely completion of clinical documentation and administrative tasks

In addition, preferred skills and experiences include:

  • High level of energy, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.

  • Student development knowledge and experience in college/university settings.

  • Bi- or multi-lingual therapy skills

  • Work or lived experience with underrepresented minority communities

  • Demonstrated experience in providing care that is rooted in cultural humility and social-justice values

Working Conditions:

  • This is a hybrid position requiring two to three days of onsite work per week depending on departmental needs.

  • Successful candidates must be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

The expected pay range for this position is $120,000 to $143,000 annually. The actual pay will be pro-rated based on the 50% FTE.
