About the Role

The Staff Product Quality Engineer will work collectively with multiple functions within ZT to drive quality improvements seamlessly from NPI (new product introduction) to high-volume mass production to drive quality improvements across all our products and processes. The Product Quality Engineer will analyze field, production, and supplier data to develop plans and improvement actions and drive root cause and corrective actions on significant quality excursions and impacts to manufacturing yield and throughput. They will use engineering knowledge and methodology to determine root causes related to these issues and help drive corrective actions, including with outside suppliers. They will also be responsible for developing and delivering customer-facing communications on quality-related issues/topics. This position will be based out of our Secaucus, NJ office.

What You Will Do

Interface with key customers to ensure customer satisfaction and review requirements/lead audits to ensure products & processes meet customer specifications. Internalize customer feedback and track lessons learned regarding quality and reliability performance against internal and customer requirements.

  • Work with the internal technical organizations and teams (such as design, assembly, and product testing) to ensure high-quality products are achieved from NPI through to mass production volumes.

  • Coordinate, direct, and manage product quality activities focusing on issue resolution, RC-CA, responsible party approval, process control, and quality assurance from NPI to MP EOL.

  • Proactively monitor both ZT factory and field nonconformance metrics - including yield and HW replacements in the factory and field, and identify & drive process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation including 8D and 5-why's analysis methods.

  • Collect and analyze large amounts of data to discover product process performance trends then proactively feedback to the team to drive improvements.

  • Engage in system-level debug resolution including hardware and firmware/software defects.

  • Work closely with global component suppliers and ZT Supplier Engineers and Procurement to detect and promptly and effectively resolve quality issues, supplier RMA and FA activities, data collection, and quality and process improvements.

  • Work with customers to clearly define factory build report expectations including frequency of reports, expected data, and response to first-past yield excursions.

  • Manage field and customer issues and escalations, successfully driving resolution of customer issues, while also working with ZT Customer Quality Engineering and ZT customer account team representatives.

  • Become an advocate for the customer through excellent knowledge of the ZT manufacturing process, timely follow-through, and a customer-focused view of quality.

  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for effective internal and external communications, across ZT global teams, suppliers, and customers.

What you Bring

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (ideally Electrical, Computer, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering) and 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or Design Engineering with an abundance of quality-related knowledge and experience (or an M.S. engineering degree and 3+ years of experience in the same areas).

  • Experience in leading efforts cross-functionally to address quality excursions and day-to-day data analytics with a focus on impacts on the customer.

  • Experience with printed circuit board assembly and/or server, rack level assembly, and/or system architecture preferred.

  • Experienced in product manufacturing required, with electronics product manufacturing preferred.

  • Experience reviewing manufacturing test data and system logs to identify failures is a plus.

  • Must be capable of effectively interfacing at all levels of the organization including the executive level internally, with supplier personnel, and the customer.

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to organize and drive complex issues to closure promptly and clearly communicate the status/results.

  • Must exhibit self-motivation, demonstrate a sense of urgency, and be capable of successfully multi-tasking in a high-pressure, fast-paced, and matrixed environment, without being prompted for follow-up and progress.

  • Must demonstrate excellent analytical abilities and use data to determine and support decisions/conclusions.

  • Working knowledge of quality concepts and a proven understanding of problem-solving tools including root cause analysis and statistical process control principles is required.

  • Thoroughly demonstrated skills with MS Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.

  • Experience in Microsoft Power BI, JIRA, Sequel, and Tableau is a plus.

  • Experience in project work and project management is required (project management certification not required).
