Staff Nurse

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university

• HIGHLY PREFERRED

• One (1) year acute experience

• PREFERRED

• Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and/or certification to be completed within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter

• Ability to assess and reassess patients admitted to Detox for training/Aggression/Suicide Risk.

• Ability to perform assigned point of care testing (ex. Glucometer, Rapid Covid Testing).

• Ability to administer PPD as ordered and document readings.

• Ability to teach patients about NARCAN Spray administration in the community.

• Computer application skills

• ALLSCRIPTS, EPIC, Microsoft Excel.

• Excellent written and communication skills.

The Staff Nurse in the Nursing Detoxification Unit provides professional nursing care to people of all ages and their families. Utilizes knowledge of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and document care. Formulates nursing diagnosis for treating actual or potential health problems, teaching, counseling and providing care. Delegates appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel. Displays professional practice as set forth in The Brooklyn Hospital Center's standard of care, and the institution's mission and goals.
