Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited colleges or universities
New graduates accepted
One (1) year in acute care experience
Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Oncology Nursing Certification from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation on hire or within one (1) year of hire.
Ability to apply knowledge - assessment
Ability to build interpersonal relationships - communication
Ability to provide people-centered care
Ability to collaborate with other professionals
Ability to assess and reassess patients admitted to Medical / Surgical Unit
Ability to perform assigned point of care testing (ex. Glucometer)
Computer application skills
The Staff Nurse in the Medicine / Cancer Unit 6W provides professional nursing care to all patients, including adult oncology patients and their families. Utilizes knowledge of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and document care. Formulates nursing diagnosis for treating actual or potential health problems, teaching, counseling and providing care. Delegates appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel. Displays professional practice as set forth in The Brooklyn Hospital Center's standard of care, and the institution's mission and goals.
