  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited colleges or universities -- HIGHLY PREFERRED

  • Minimum of one (1) year emergency nursing experience, or two(2) years of Medical / Surgical experience -- REQUIRED

  • Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse

  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

  • Current Advanced Life Support (ACLS)

  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and/or certification to be completed within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter

  • Ability to remain calm

  • Ability to set aside personal feelings

  • Knowledge of when and how to speak up -- being assertive

  • Possesses great time management skills

  • Ability to assess and reassess patients for Cardiac/Respiratory distress /Aggression/Suicide Risk/ and other medical/nursing needs as appropriate.

  • Ability to perform assigned point of care testing (ex. Glucometer, Rapid Covid Testing).

  • Ability to administer PPD as ordered and document readings.

  • Ability to teach patients about NARCAN Spray administration in the community.

  • Computer application skills -- ALLSCRIPTS, EPIC, Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent written and communication skills

The Staff Nurse in the Emergency Room provides professional nursing care to people of all ages and their families. Utilizes knowledge of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and document care. Formulates nursing diagnosis for treating actual or potential health problems, teaching, counseling and providing care in the emergency setting. Delegates appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel. Displays professional practice as set forth in The Brooklyn Hospital Center's standard of care, and the institution's mission and goal objectives.

VIEW JOBS 9/24/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-12-23T00:00 <p>Staff Development Director</p><p>Summary/Objective</p><p>The Director of Staff Development oversees the successful development, implementation and continuous improvement of orientation programs, professional development, evaluations, mandatory educations and trainings of all clinicians hired to ensure safe effective nursing care pursuant to federal/state agency guidelines and policies &amp; procedures.</p><p>This position also performs a variety of other duties including; interpreting state mandates and protocols and standards for staff evaluations and professional development; infection control and risk management monitoring and evaluation; maintenance of appropriate staffing levels and supervision creation, review and revision of nursing care policy and procedures in accordance with federal and state guidelines and regulations; maintenance of employee files to ensure compliance with licensing, and health monitoring and mandatory facility education requirements.</p><p>Duties and Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Supervises orientation for all agency personnel.</p></li><li><p>Provides orientation for all nursing personnel according to state, federal and facility guidelines.</p></li><li><p>Provides in-service orientation for all nursing and facility personnel to include federal and state mandated education.</p></li><li><p>Records all employee in-service attendance.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for yearly nursing staff competence assessment and record keeping.</p></li><li><p>Obtains guest speakers when appropriate to topic.
