• Administers medications as per protocol. Reports medication errors promptly.

• Keeps patients clean and dry. Turns and positions patients. Utilizes pressure reduction devices as appropriate.

• Reassess patient at least every four hours (q4h) and more often based on patient's condition.

• Assesses and documents patient's pain and pain management per protocol.

• Assesses and documents patient's skin and skin care management as per protocol.

• Administers blood transfusion and documents on the transfusion record as per protocol.

• Explains procedures to patients, prepares for, performs and assists in procedures.

• Communicates and receives accurate patient information during hand-off at change shift, when assigned a new patient and when transferring a patient.

• Completely and accurately counts narcotics at the end of the shift as assigned.

• Completes triage assessment and directs patients to the appropriate treatment area.

• Makes suggestions for and participates in quality/performance improvement activities as guided by the Nurse Manager.

Five years med-surg experience or two years critical care experience preferred.
