Job Responsibilities

This position provides care to assigned residents in a caring, safe and efficient manner and is responsible to perform the following according to location standards, procedures and individualized resident care plans

  • Assesses plans, implements and coordinates a plan of care for residents in pertinent areas. Assures medications and treatments are administered to assigned residents. Make changes on plan of care as needed.

  • Safeguards residents' property. Maintains residents' self-esteem, privacy and confidentiality of personal information. Provides residents with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their care plans. Assures and assists to maintain safe, pleasant, orderly resident living areas.

  • Assures physicians' orders are processed and physicians notified in a timely manner.

  • Directs and assists with resident, family/significant other education.

  • Uses the EMR accurately.

  • Uses transfer equipment (gait belt, mechanical lifts, slide boards, lift/slip, etc.) and handling techniques in a manner that makes residents feel safe. Demonstrates knowledge of department - specific safety, fire and disaster plans.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • RN licensure for state of practice is required.

  • Basic ability to communicate and comprehend; ability to measure and comprehend certain quantities

  • Knowledge of basic nursing skills; knowledge and familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered.

Qualifications Education: * Student or Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing or medical assistant program * If a Medical Assistant, a High School Diploma/GED is also required Experience: * If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN or MA experience working in an applicable setting is required. * Experience working in a team environment Skills: * Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) * Computer skills required * Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call * Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work Additional qualifications Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. One year LPN/MA experience within the last five years preferred. License or certification * Current LPN license by applicable state requirements or * Current Medical Assistant certification or registration. In the event of no certification or registration and ineligibility to become certified or registered, an ABR-OE or equivalent is required. * Maintains BLS (Basic Life Support) for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: 1. American Heart Association 2. American Red Cross * Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
