SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a Casual Staff Nurse to join our Cancer Center in downtown Minneapolis, MN.
Note: If you are currently in a benefit earning position and apply for this casual position you will be decreasing your current hours to casual with no benefits.
CASUAL NURSE: Casual nurses are nurses who have no regular appointed scheduled hours (no assigned FTE). Nurses may not have a casual position and a regularly scheduled position within the same facility. Casual nurses must make themselves available to work a minimum of two (2) open 8-hour minimum length or the equivalent number of hours per four (4)-week scheduling period at straight time, a minimum of one shift must be a weekend shift. Casual nurses must also make themselves available to work two (2) of the following holiday shifts per calendar year: New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Holiday shifts must be full eight or twelve hour shifts. A minimum of one of the holidays must be a winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Relationship-Based Care practice model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by:
Protecting, promoting wellness and optimizing health
Triaging patients by assessing severity of symptoms and referral to appropriate setting or level of care
Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response
Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others
Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care
Educating patient on their disease process
Assuring continuity of care
Educating patient and family in preventative care which promotes health and well being
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota
1 year of current oncology professional nursing (RN) experience
OCN certified or able to obtain certification within 2 years of hire date
Chemo administration experience
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in area of clinical specialty
Chemo/Biotherapy course
Inpatient Oncology experience
BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
This role is paid based on the Inpatient pay scale.
