Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients. Assesses patients, develops and documents nursing care and discharge plans, and prepares and administers medications and interventions. Supervises nursing attendants and ancillary staff in patient care activities.

Two years med surge required. ED or Critical Care experience required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

New York State License for Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an R.N.

BSN Degree preferred

Basic Life Support Training

Infection Control Training

Certification in specialty preferred

Effective English communication skills, both written and oral

Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems

Refer a dedicated Staff RN I/II or a Registered Nurse with talent, skill and experience to join our dynamic Emergency Department team.

Qualified candidates must have a NYS RN License along with a minimum of two years of Med/Surg experience.

Full time ONLY (day, evening and night shifts only does not apply to part time or per diem positions).

  • Only available at the Moses, CHAM and Wakefield campuses.

Referral Program:

This program is only for associates who refer experienced full time Staff RN I/II or a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department.

$2,500 will be paid out the month the new associate starts, with an additional $2,500 to be paid out following the successful completion of the new associates first (1st) year.

This Associate Referral Program is open to Montefiore Medical Center associates as outlined in HR Policy ll-4b.

Locate a Staff Nurse I/II and/or Registered Nurse Wakefield requisition (posting will indicate ARP eligible) and use the Refer a Friend option via the Talent Management System. All referrals must have a current resume attached at the time of referral and will be tracked via the Talent Management System.

In order to be eligible for 70.1 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent service in a title approved for transfer by the Department of Civil Service that is within two salary grades of the Grade 16 level. In addition, candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State; OR Open Competitive Opportunity - Have a license and be currently registered to practice nursing in New York State AND either one year of full-time post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience, of which six months must be specialized nursing experience with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, alcoholism, or chemical dependency; OR eighteen months of full time post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience. Duties Description As Nurse 2 Psychiatric, you will provide professional nursing services appropriate to individuals served by the program to which you are assigned. Services may include, but are not limited to, nursing interventions and their documentation, case finding, health teaching/counseling and provision of supportive and/or restorative care. You will also participate in staff training, prepare clinical and administrative reports, maintain infection control standards, and function as a member of a treatment team. You may also act as a charge nurse on a unit. In addition, you may provide supervision to subordinate professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in the performance of their patient/resident care duties and be responsible for maintaining inventory standards for medicine, controlled drugs, and narcotics. Notes: 1. If you fail to maintain your license and/or registration once you are appointed, action will be taken to remove you from the position. 2. In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment. 3.
