Job Summary The Operating Room Nurse II is a highly motivated professional nurse and skilled clinician who with minimal supervision assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of surgical patients in the perioperative setting. Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective and quality patient-and family centered care in the perioperative setting. Requires flexible, self directed RN with the ability to work in any phase of the perioperative setting and a willingness to float between the areas in the perioperative setting as needed. Demonstrates strong assessment skills and competence in decision making in the delivery of care to patients and families. Implements and maintains the appropriate standard of care based on age specific categories recommended by the Medical Executive Committee. Contributes to the Children#s Hospital Mission

Education
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required within one year of hire. Completes and passes the Perioperative 101 Course if no previous experience as an ORT or OR nurse, or scrub/circulator role.
Experience
Minimum of three years in the perioperative setting (OR, PACU or Pre-Op) Professional nurse who is expert in the delivery of patient care within the subspecialty areas. A minimum of three years of experience in the perioperative setting OR five years in a critical care setting is required
Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
Current BLS Certification
Current Alabama Registered Nurse License required
