Summary:

The Wellness Center at Rowan University is looking for a Staff Nurse, under the supervision of the Director and Charge Nurse, to function as part of the health care team in providing acute care services to a diverse population of full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students.

Candidates must be flexible to meet the needs of the Center during the weekday and evenings. The successful candidate will triage and assess the health care needs of students, will assist the physicians and nurse practitioner with evaluations and treatment of students, will provide health education and will provide bedside nursing care in our short-term treatment and observation rooms. The candidate will consult with physicians and other members of the health care team, and will make referrals as needed. The staff nurse will assist in campus-wide health promotion initiatives, health education programs, and research and quality improvement activities.

Requirements:

  • Current and valid New Jersey license as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Current CPR-Healthcare provider level

  • Must possess competencies in RN clinical skills, health promotion education, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, multicultural care, leadership and a commitment to ongoing professional development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Healthcare experience in a higher education setting

  • Experience working with diverse populations

Salary:

  • Range P20 ($52,278-$59,494)

  • This a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Description: The Medical Assistant, under the supervision of the Managing Physician and Charge Nurse, function as part of the health care team in performing medical and clerical duties as well as providing assistance to the clinical providers for the Student Health Services department in the Wellness Center in Glassboro. Preferred Qualifications: * At least one (1) year of related experience in a medical office setting. * Knowledge of computers is required. * Knowledge and experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems. * Must possess competencies clinical skills, health promotion education, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, multicultural care, leadership and a commitment to ongoing professional development. * The ability to work independently, excellent communications skills, organizational skills and flexibility is a must. * Experience in public health. Essential Job Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for: * Handling patient calls, documenting all relevant information for the clinical staff; * Schedules patient appointments for office via EHR; * Checking in patients via EHR, verifying demographics, insurance and any additional pertinent information; * Prepares exam room for patient visits; * Assists the RN's in preparing the patients for visits, including documenting the student's visit reason, relevant medical history and standard vitals; * Assists clinical staff with patient care; * Scanning appropriate documentation into EHR; * Engagement with diverse populations * Maintains medical waste logs and keeps abreast of current regulations; * Maintaining supply stock of sample medication, personal protective equipment, onsite prescription and over the counter medication, etc.; * Maintaining the neatness, organization and stock of the exam rooms; * Maintains and cleans medical equipment; * Maintains a professional, orderly office; * Performing Clerical duties, including but not limited to; incoming and outgoing calls from colleagues, patients, and parents, interoffice and U.S. mail incoming and outgoing, processing emails, etc.; and * Other duties as assigned. Requirements: * Graduation of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT), or any other recognized certifying body approved by the Board. * Must be able to work any evening required as well as occasional weekends. * Understanding and adhering to Rowan University and the Wellness Center's policies and procedures including the compliance standards as they appear in the Rowan University Corporate Compliance, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
