Role Summary The successful candidate will lead ongoing EMM packaging development and production launch, while ensuring EMM components and assembly design conforms to vehicle packaging, thermal, and structural requirements. They will represent the EPC EMM Mechanical team in cross-functional team discussions. The successful candidate will own the design responsibility of chassis, overall assembly releases, and EMM contract manufacturer selection.

Responsibilities Work in a fast-paced environment on various on-vehicle power electronics developments Participate in technology topology selections and critical component development such as power switching devices Develop power electronics packaging concepts with thermal cool system design options with DREs Assess power switching supplier technical and manufacturing capabilities and develop power modules if required Collaborate with electrical engineering to develop magnetic components for both on-board and off-board PCBAs Lead technical collaboration discussions with cross-functional teams Resolve power electronics design issues related to power switching devices and magnetic components Be a champion of product design challenges and spearhead with stakeholders to resolve design issues by working through the process of problem root cause, containment, and corrective action Develop power electronics engineers and mentor them Participate in product development DFMEAs Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field Minimum 10 years of professional work experience in high voltage automotive power electronics product development Technical knowledge and manufacturing process experience in power switching devices and magnetic components Experience in leading the power electronics packaging and working within vehicle environment CATIA or other CAD tool experience Minimum 5 years of FEA analysis experience in liquid-cooled, air-cooled thermal design, and structural design Automotive supplier managing experience Design experience with sheet metal stamping, die casting, wiring harness, and plastic injection molding processes Ability to work independently and manage several challenging project simultaneously Problem solving capabilities and willingness to drive and resolve product technical challenges Proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and Visio Always maintains a positive and proactive attitude Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $137,800 - $172,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
