Job Overview

We are looking for an exceptional Mechanical Engineer who is driven and inspired to create precision mechanism devices. This is a person who has a passion for all aspects of mechanical development and has a proven history to have been successful doing so. As a member of the mechanical engineering team in Fort Washington, the team member will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and testing of mechanical subsystems and robotic automation manufacturing equipment for the semiconductor industry. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop some or all of the following:

  • High speed, precision motion systems and structures for semiconductor assembly equipment for a market leader in the field

  • Critical process enabling technology to support customer requirements for semiconductor assembly

  • Precision optical structures for machine vision optics

  • High speed and high accuracy actuators

  • Design mechanical components, modules and systems according to system specifications with a focus on design for reliability, manufacturing, assembly, & cost.

  • Define mechanical sub-system requirements and specifications

  • Conduct cross functional collaboration with electrical, process, procurement, and manufacturing engineering

  • Assessment of mechanical designs and reliability using hand calculations, MATLAB simulation, FEA, statistics, etc.

  • Create product validation plan including required testing through experimental setups

  • Support fabrication and build of prototype and production systems

  • Conduct prototype testing, data collection, processing, analysis and documentation

  • Development of design, assembly, and manufacturing documentation

  • Provide technical support to our field engineers and customers

  • Degree in Mechanical engineering (BS minimum, MS preferred)

  • 8+ years of hands-on engineering development experience with electromechanical systems

  • CAD program experience (NX preferred)

  • Finite element analysis software experience

  • GD&T knowledge

  • Work in a multi-disciplined team environment

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic

  • Ability to travel 5-10% of time, domestically and internationally

Helpful Skills and Experience:

  • Motion System design (linear and rotary)

  • Motor, bearing, encoder selection for high speed motion performance, precision, robustness, cost effectiveness

  • Design of dynamic structures with high stiffness to weight properties

  • Experience with high volume manufacturing methods such as castings and moldings

  • Vibration testing, modal analysis, bode collection, design for servo control

  • Motion performance testing

  • FEA analysis

  • Thermal

  • Dynamic

  • Structural

  • Sense of timeliness and desire in wanting to find solutions for new product R&D

  • Hands on orientation in solving all levels of product development

  • Good intuitive understanding of dynamics

  • Research of new technologies and methods through academic literature

  • CAD design and drawings for prototype and production parts

  • Development and design of unique manufacturing methods

  • Supplier relationship development: technical and logistical communication & collaboration

The Senior Project Mechanical Engineer will work closely with a team of staff engineers and scientists on challenging and exciting projects largely in urban environments. Essential Functions-What You Will Do * Support design and documentation of projects in the Natural Gas Sector; focusing on metering, regulation, liquefied natural gas, renewable natural gas and compressed natural gas facilities. * Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). * Perform line sizing, wall thickness, and flexibility/pipe stress calculations. * Perform process equipment (e.g., heat exchangers, boilers, pumps) sizing. * Perform valve and mechanical component sizing, including relief valves. * Prepare piping design drawings and equipment general arrangement drawings. * Develop Bill of Materials to accompany piping drawings. * Prepare written specifications for equipment and materials. * Perform system evaluations/design using process simulation software. * Prepare written reports documenting analyses, designs, and assessments. * Prepare plant documentation, such as operating & maintenance procedures, purging procedures, as-built drawings, and training documents. * Perform site visits to utility and industrial client facilities to review existing process piping and equipment layouts. Competencies-What We Are Looking For * Minimum of four (4) to Six (6) years relevant experience and a BS in Mechanical Engineering (Energy Focus). * Possess or be working toward Professional Engineering Registration/Licensure. * Experience with natural gas and liquefied natural gas is preferred. * Solid understanding of Process Design. * Experience with AutoCAD. * Strong organizational and time management skills combined with the flexibility to work with shifting priorities. * Client-service orientation with the ability to anticipate needs and deliver to meet expectations. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Work well as a team member, with a collaborative communication style.
