VMware Government Services is recruiting a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join our newly formed dedicated to growing VMware's Public Sector Cloud portfolio. This engineer will have a diverse background in software development, cloud security, and container-based infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a security Subject Matter Expert within VMware for all VGS products and services

  • Create security best practice documentation utilized by VMware engineering teams

  • Analyze vulnerability and compliance scans and collaborate with engineering to define remediations

  • Work with engineering to ensure architecture changes meet security and compliance requirements

  • Analyze compliance requirements and assist with the creation of engineering requirements

  • Ensure vulnerabilities are remediated as prescribed in VGS's Continuous Monitoring Plan

  • Work with infosec to ensure that all FedRAMP controls are met

  • Provide audit and continuous monitoring artifacts to compliance as required

  • Analyze change requests and ensure they do not negatively impact the security posture of VGS Services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of securing modern container orchestration systems: e.g. Kubernetes, Mesos, DC/OS, Swarm

  • Subject Matter Expert on cloud security principals with experience engineering these principals into production systems

  • Experience reviewing security scans and remediating vulnerabilities

  • Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with a strong sense of ownership and independence

  • Experience administering Linux systems in a production environment

  • Operational experience with networking and an understanding of networking principles

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance and pass regular background investigations

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent industry experience

  • Experience automating security and continuous monitoring functions

  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere products: i.e. vCenter, ESX, vSAN and NSX

  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and scaling SaaS services

  • Experience with Jira Service Desk and PagerDuty or similar tools

  • Experience with various data management technologies including relational and non-relational databases and message queues

  • This position will perform work that the U.S. government has specified can only be performed by a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, and therefore any offer will be contingent upon verification of both of these requirements
