Staff Geotechnical Engineer III. Knight Piésold and Company. Denver, Colorado.

Responsible for all geotechnical engineering aspects for projects, including site investigation and in-situ testing, laboratory testing coordination, analysis, design, report preparation, civil 3D drafting of engineering documents, and reviewing construction related to earthwork projects in mining, water resources, renewable energy, and hydropower. Conduct geotechnical site investigations, perform geotechnical laboratory tests, and prepare investigative engineering reports; apply site data to analyses and design.

Interpret and analyze geotechnical laboratory testing data, including cyclic and static direct simple shear and cyclic triaxial testing to evaluate liquefaction potential and to establish type, classification, and engineering characteristics of materials. Complete geotechnical engineering analyses and numerical modelling using FLAC 2D and FLAC 3D for dynamic deformation analyses, seepage, slope stability and settlement analyses. Implement and calibrate geomechanical constitutive models, including:

PM4Sand, PM4Silt, Norsand, UBCSand within FLAC 2D and FLAC 3D, using Python, VBA, and FISH routines. Implement earthquake time-histories from probabilistic (PSHA) and deterministic (DSHA) seismic hazard assessments. Complete geomechanical engineering analyses and numerical modelling using UDEC and 3DEC rock mechanics applications.

Review and analyze construction and maintenance of earthwork projects following standard procedures (i.e., construction quality assurance/quality control), including projects related to waste rock facilities, heaping leach facilities, tailings, storage facilities, and their ancillary works. Provide engineering details for proposals, bid documents, capital cost estimates, construction drawing, and design reports. Prepare civil engineering layouts using computer-based modeling software.

Work from home available within normal commuting distance from the Denver office. Requires: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering. 3 years of experience in any geotechnical or civil engineering position. Demonstrated knowledge of geotechnical engineering fundamentals, drafting, geotechnical testing, and general civil engineering design practices.
