The Staff Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis plays a critical role within the Finance Department by providing reporting and analytical support for Finance and Operations, leading the monthly / quarterly re-forecast process and acting as a Finance Business Partner to Sales & Marketing leaders. The Corporate Finance department is a highly collaborative group that encourages team members to take on new responsibilities and promotes continuous learning.
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis the Staff Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis will perform cross-functional business analysis and maintain / enhance financial models by leveraging technology to streamline the processes. Additionally, the Staff Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis will directly support business leaders by analyzing key metrics and providing meaningful feedback to the decision-makers.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate impact of the annual Medicare Sales Agent ramp along with forecasting and tracking all associated expenses, such as, sales incentives, recruiting fees, overtime and licensing fees.
Support the annual budgeting and planning process, the long-range strategic planning process, as well as lead the monthly / quarterly re-forecast process for Sales & Marketing.
Analyze trends and identify areas of both risk and opportunity for key Sales & Marketing expense accounts to be reviewed with Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis.
Evaluate operational and financial impacts of on-going business decisions and work closely with cross-functional partners to develop recommendations that promote stewardship and continuous improvement.
Assist in the preparation of variance explanations and partner with select VPs of Sales & Marketing to lead monthly variance review discussions, update monthly forecasts, and drive operating expense efficiencies.
Understand financial impact of application volume and marketing expenses on cost of acquisition and maintain and improve existing Marketing forecast models used to drive executive decision-making under the direction of the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis.
Contribute to important ad-hoc projects / questions that the Executive Management Team is focused on to drive profitability and growth.
Maintain a high degree of accuracy for high-profile deliverables. Gather data from complex sources, reconcile data variances, and use data to support analyses.
Drive continual process improvement leveraging best practices, standardization, and automation to scale the business.
BS degree in Finance, Economics or Statistics.
6-8 years of direct, relevant experience in financial services, e-commerce/internet or health insurance.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work with diverse groups of internal clients.
Strong strategic, financial modeling, presentation, project management and communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders, business group leaders and senior management.
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
High-level of integrity along with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to multi-task and adjust to rapidly changing priorities in order to address/resolve the most critical/sensitive issues on a timely basis.
