Staff Engineer, Vehicle Electronics Architect/Lead

We are currently seeking a Staff Engineer, Vehicle Electronics Architect/Lead. This position requires an experienced professional with a background in low voltage electrical and network architecture development.

You Will:

Drive the specification of the electrical system and components coordinated with Lucid's internal teams

Provide design, specification and evaluation of E/E architectures and network topologies

Facilitate recursive design optimization cycles for optimal resource utilization and cost

Document the E/E system requirements and relevant test cases

Define low voltage electrical architecture options and final production architecture selection

Model/document architecture using industry standard software

Drive relevant electrical system analysis in support of detailed systems design and architecture selection and ongoing architecture evolution

Support functional safety engineer(s) to define and verify safety requirements for E/E architecture

You Bring:

In-depth knowledge of model-based electric/electronic design methodologies

Good team collaboration and interpersonal skills

Excellence in analytical thinking

Working experience on requirements clarification; deriving, defining and writing requirements on vehicle system and components level

Experience defining and implementing vehicle electronic architecture

Deep understanding of automotive bus and communication technologies

Experience analyzing/evaluating architecture performance

General understanding of functional safety impacts on E/E architecture.

Extensive experience in designing complex electronic systems (e.g. automotive, robotics)

Advantageous:

Electric vehicle architecture development and production delivery

Experience with Vector PREEVision and Jama

Experience working efficiently with Tier 1 and internal teams to streamline and enforce architectural requirements

Thorough understanding of safety and security implications of the E/E architecture and related architectural mitigation strategies

Experience with functional safety impacts on autonomous driving systems/architecture

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or similar. Masters of Science preferred.

Responsibilities: * Be responsible for the design, build and operations of the autonomous driving platform test vehicles. Tasks include: * Leading the design of sensor mounting systems that will allow for the evaluation of multiple sensor types, positions, and orientations. * Leading the retrofit operation of the flexible sensor mounting system onto designated vehicles. * Integration of electrical systems and wiring harnesses into the vehicles. * Troubleshooting issues that arise in the AD vehicle fleet. * Be responsible for compiling the sensor information learned on the development fleet and ensuring the lessons are appropriately implemented in the production vehicle. * Assist in the hardware and system integration of various ADAS & AD sensors into the production vehicle design. * Work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to define system requirements and project deliverables. * Work in a dynamic environment which evolves at a high pace Qualifications: * BS or MS in the areas of Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related fields * 3+ years of relevant work experience * Prior work or academic experience with automotive engineering applications, aeronautical applications, RF applications, or other related positions. * Prior engineering experience in automotive or industrial applications. * Prior experience with either RF, camera, lidar, or embedded sensor development. * Knowledge of automotive communication architecture such as CAN * Strong CAD experience in CATIA v6 * Experience with Vector tools such as CANape and CANalyzer and automotive diagnostics * Track record of technical excellence * Excellent communication skills * Prior experience in defining ADAS system requirements and test cases * Prior experience with automotive ethernet systems * Agile development tools and environment * Prior vehicle fleet management experience Lucid is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
