Position Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the technical focal point in thick laminate composite manufacturing and processes in cross-functional teams from program conceptualization to implementation.

  • Acts as the leading consultant to internal and external stakeholders including design engineering, manufacturing, program management, engineering labs support, supplier vendor relationships, etc.

  • Serves as Bell's primary point of contact in related industry committees and associations. May be called upon to substitute in for executive leadership in industry committee related activities.

  • Develops advanced concepts and standards with a high degree of creative solutions in thick laminate composite manufacturing and design.

  • Specialized mentor to junior and senior engineers in advanced concepts of thick laminate composite manufacturing and design.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline.
  • 15 years of experience in one or more of the following technical disciplines:

o Thick laminate Construction/Materials/Engineering Properties

o Toughened Resin Systems, Thermosets, Thermoplastics, Adhesive systems, Cure Cycles

o Fiber Placement, Polar Winding, Automated Composite Layup

o Composite Machining, Composite Grinding and Profiling, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

  • 15 years of experience in Aerospace Composites or related Composites Manufacturing industry

  • Exposure to leading small-medium impact projects or product programs in a flight technology environment.

  • Exposure to capital management, project scheduling, manpower forecasting, and project or program budgeting.

  • Preferred skills: Proficient in CAD/CAM and/or CATIA V5/V6

The selected candidate will primarily be responsible for assuring that product supporting the Tata-Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Ltd. (TLMAL) C-130 Empennage assembly line meets engineering and contractual requirements. The candidate may also perform quality performance oversight of and technical assistance for other TLMAL work scope including C-130 and F-16 prototype work scope. In addition, the candidate may be required to perform product acceptance and supplier performance management at other supplier sites in India and the wider Asia-Pacific region on behalf of all LM Aeronautics programs. Goals are to lead suppliers through the process of developing and executing plans than ensure long term flow of defect-free products in support of LM Aero production. Scope includes suppliers of both airframe and system commodities, including build-to-print, supplier design-authority, and MRO contracts. The selected candidate will be accountable for collaborating with functional organizations and executive leadership at the supplier sites and at LM Aero to solve technical and contractual issues, and for ensuring supplier performance is aligned with achieving quality and affordability goals set by the LM Aero programs. This position is an Expat assignment out of the Fort Worth facility. Depending on experience, the selected candidate may be required to initially spend three (3) months in the United States working with the various lines of business in establishing common goals and processes. The position requires about 10% travel, both international and to the United States. Position Overview: Supplier Quality Engineer - Staff Location: TLMAL Site (Hyderabad, India) Assignment Duration: 3 Years, with possibility for extension. Must be a US Citizen, this position will require a government security clearance. This position will require work at a facility that requires special access. Basic Qualifications: The selected candidate must be able to demonstrate the following: Experienced QE or ME having prior successes working C-130 or similar airframe work scope. Experience with C-130 or similar airframe Systems and engineering interpretation. Experience interacting with at least one of the following: LM Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, as well as with Government Customer Representatives. Ability to apply advanced quality engineering principles in preventative engagements. Experience developing performance improvements plans (i.e. return-to-green plans, zero-defect plans, excellence plans). Experience coaching or leading others. Experience identifying and engaging relevant stakeholders for collaboration. Experience working independently and with minimal supervision. Desired Skills: STEM Degree in Engineering or other technical Bachelor's or Master's degree. Experience providing floor support to facilitate diagnosis and root cause analysis of failures and non-conformances throughout aircraft assembly. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to maintain productive relationship with challenging international supplier and manage frequent interactions with senior LM management. Experience with SQM tools and processes Experience establishing and maintaining productive relationships with international suppliers and managing frequent interactions with supplier Executives (i.e. P&L responsible POCs). Understanding and experience with AS9100 (Revisions C & D), AS9102, and AS9103. Advanced data collection and analysis (Excel /Access), FMEA and DoE Training. Experience developing plans for acceptance testing, inspections, and sampling. Experience planning and/or executing Quality Engineering tools (i.e. AS9145, PPAP, APQP) Experience with foreign business practices and operations.
