Marvell is rapidly growing its SSD storage business with innovative new controllers, software development kits and full turnkey firmware offerings. As part of this growth we are looking to grow a new NAND Characterization team that will be responsible for characterization of NAND from all seven (7) vendors, design of NAND management and error management algorithms and the support of analysis of NAND issues during qualification.

In this role you will be part of the Marvell NAND characterization team.

You will work on the evaluation of new NAND components, with both a hands on roll in the lab and analyzing data obtained.

You will assist in the design of NAND management and error recovery routines and support the design of turn key SSD designs for Marvell customers while also interfacing to NAND suppliers

Required qualifications

  • BS in either Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in state of the art of 3D NAND flash memory

  • Knowledge of NAND device physics and failure mechanisms

  • Knowledge of SSD management schemes e.g. Wear-Leveling, Garbage Collection and Background Media Scan

  • Solid experience in data processing and analysis using C/C++, Matlab and Python.

Preferred Experience

  • MS or Ph.D. in either Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

  • 3+ years of hands-on NAND analysis experience in SSD or storage systems

  • Experience in the design of NAND management and error recovery schemes

  • Demonstrated expertise in NAND failure analysis, testing and debug efforts

The Staff Ultrasound Acoustic Engineer plays a leadership role in creating and optimizing our current and future generation of products. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Staff Ultrasound Acoustic Engineer is integral to the design, testing and implementation of our acoustic based systems. Additionally, the role directs suppliers, contract manufacturers and where appropriate Engineers and Technicians.<br></p><p><strong>Essential Job Functions</strong> </p><ul> <li>Design and develop product(s) in full compliance with the company’s Design Control requirements and consistent with FDA, ISO, MDD/MDR requirements.</li> <li>Responsible for ensuring proper documentation consistent with company’s quality system.</li> <li>Responsible for knowing and planning activities consistent the company’s quality policy and quality objectives.</li> <li>Responsible for ensuring lab notebooks are documented in a manner consistent with the applicable SOP.</li> <li>Develop solutions to design problems through the application of engineering principles, analysis, and empirical methods</li> <li>Develop solutions to design problems consistent with customer needs.</li> <li>Build and test prototype designs for proof of concept.</li> <li>Develop protocols/reports and perform product in-vitro, in-vivo as well as verification and validation testing.</li> <li>Perform process-related design tasks to support pilot manufacturing.</li> <li>Enhance the intellectual property position of the company via invention disclosures and patent applications.</li> <li>Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies in addition to medical, technical, and biomedical developments related to company’s products.</li> <li>Simulate acoustic propagation field and energy distribution.</li> <li>Design and develop acoustic optimization and characterization methods for our devices.</li> <li>Design and program test and application tools.</li> <li>File regulatory reports for FDA, IEC, UL et al.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>MS (required) or PhD (preferred) in Physics, Electrical Engineering or Bioengineering </li> <li>Minimum of 5 years' experience in therapeutic ultrasound research and/or ultrasound-based medical device product development</li> <li>Minimum 5 years' experience with characterization of therapeutic ultrasound medical devices</li> <li>Strong understanding of nonlinear acoustics and therapeutic ultrasound modalities </li> <li>Extensive experience with acoustic characterization and optimization of commercial ultrasound devices</li> <li>Expertise in ultrasound physics and image processing, especially in area of algorithm and acoustic tools development (in compliance with IEC and FDA standards)</li> <li>Must have experience working in acoustic and/or thermal simulation and measurements</li> <li>Skilled at one or more high-level programming languages (C++, C, MatLab, Labview) and skilled at performing statistical analysis of data (R or Minitab)<br> </li> <li>Experience with medical devices in shockwave therapy is a strong plus</li> <li>Research experience in Lithotripsy and acoustic cavitation is desired</li> <li>Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, and work in a collaborative style.</li> <li>Good technical skills and proven engineering problem solving ability.</li> </ul><ul><li>Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and resource to senior management and non-technical stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.</li></ul><ul><li>Operate within a multi-discipline team and/or independently while demonstrating flexibility to changing requirements.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Shockwave Medical offers a competitive total compensation package including comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision) as well as pet insurance and student loan refinancing support.</p> <p>EEO Employer</p> Shockwave Medical Santa Clara CA
