Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS), Bellevue, NE is currently seeking a Staff Engineer Human Factors. The successful candidates will demonstrate a broad skill set balanced between NC2 mission expertise, interpersonal skills, and technical capabilities. They will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The selected candidates will participate in the entire software development lifecycle with a concentration in software engineering. The candidates will work closely with other software developers accomplishing the following:

  • Complete work independently and as a part of an Agile team

  • Support team in completing necessary software on schedule

  • Solve complex problems through innovative and creative solutions

  • Collaborate with software designers and/or software engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of software systems

  • Regularly demonstrate progress to customers

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

  • A Bachelors with a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience

  • A Masters with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience

  • A PhD with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience

  • Extensive operational experience with Nuclear Command and Control (NC2), Nuclear Mission Planning, USSTRATCOM, and the strategic deterrence mission.

  • Experience conducting user engagements designed to understand user needs, gather requirements, garner feedback on a system, and gauge usability.

  • Experience breaking down and translating user needs and requirements into intuitive designs.

  • Experience designing intuitive user interfaces using industry standard processes and tools.

  • Experience training users on a system in a one-on-one or classroom setting.

  • Experience building training materials (i.e. user guides)

  • Experience working within Agile software development processes.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with customers, users, and technical teams.

  • Experience leading high-performing teams.

  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain access to work on-site in Bellevue, NE and Offutt AFB.

  • Current DoD Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a product owner in an Agile software development environment.

  • Experience building NC2 mission data sets for exercises and training.

  • Extensive knowledge of NC3 messaging systems and associated message types.

  • Current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Salary Range: $142,500.00 - $213,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
