In this role, you will be responsible for the technical direction of product design and product improvement projects. This includes planning, specification creation, compliance to specification evaluations, coordination of design and development projects, and representation of electrical design at project-team level. This position requires technical innovation as well as a high level of technical skill in the areas of design, analysis, development, and testing of new products and components. You will be accountable for electrical architectural application and discovery in the area of electronics, control, human machine interface, and system integration.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Present and maintain project electrical development process and Gate milestones to platform teams.

  • Prepare project, technical, cost, and other reports to show project progress as required.

  • Conduct/attend Technical Design Reviews, Failure Mode and Effect Analyses, etc., and contribute sound professional opinion, creative ideas, concepts, and approaches to new product design and development projects.

  • Apply innovation/screening tools to technology options.

  • Determine the electrical application feasibility of new product concepts. Prepare detailed project plans; including technical objectives and approaches, design specifications, test specifications, schedule plans, project cost estimates, and product cost analyses.

  • Personally, and with key suppliers, carry out in-depth design and development work of an advanced and complex nature, involving high-speed digital and analog circuit design.

  • Direct and coordinate all work by supplier engineers, support personnel, and outside groups involving design, development, drafting, prototype construction, and test and evaluation of product concepts. Work closely with project groups to assure smooth transition to product development.

  • Mentor less-senior engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas as required.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical or electromechanical) required, with a master's degree in engineering or business administration preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with steadily increasing responsibility as an engineer.

  • Preferred experience with:

  • Automotive Tier One

  • Appliance design and development, mechanism design

  • EMC experience

Responsible for managing and overseeing the quality and continuous improvement initiatives within Kohler Co., the ideal candidate will have experience in Quality or Process Engineering with a focus on technical assignments with a proven project leadership experience in implementing systems in a production environment. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE: * Identify and coordinate quality and process improvement initiatives to assure that product, processes, and systems are all being reviewed, assessed, and improved. * Evaluate production and customer data and drive improvements that will result in improved processes and customer experience. * Assist in developing associate problem-solving capabilities within all production tiers. * Assist in developing, deploying, and standardizing global faucet quality systems throughout the Americas faucet production facilities. * Investigate and implement industry best practices in quality systems and tools within production. * Liaison with process owners upstream and downstream to coordinate improvement. * Strive to improve existing manufacturing and support systems to facilitate improved performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. * Become a divisional subject matter expert in at least one area and perform training as needed. * Personally, demonstrate and drive the Kohler Core Competencies. Skills/Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY * Bachelor of Science in an Engineering or scientific discipline from an ABET accredited program * Minimum 6 years of Quality Engineering or Process Engineering work experience * Advanced problem solving demonstrated with the usage of 6 sigma black belt and/or Shainin Red X tools. * Must have a proven background for evaluating data to drive process improvements. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * Must perform process engineering tasks and technical assignments with a high degree of quality * Must be someone who accepts, embraces, and drives change while looking for opportunities to lead by example and implement sustainable preventative actions. * Six Sigma Green Belt or ASQ Certification is highly desired.
