Staff Engineer Chemical Recovery Process Engineering

The Technical Services Group, Packaging & Cellulose, is looking for a Staff Engineer to join the Fiber and Chemical Recovery Technology and Engineering Group. This team provides technical support for Packaging and Cellulose facilities in the areas of chemical recovery operations as well as Fiberline systems. In this role you will provide staff level engineering expertise for process design and process optimization for the aforementioned areas. This position can office in Atlanta or home-based (preferably in the southeast).

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

  • Staff engineer will provide technical services and capital project support to multiple facilities

  • Perform benchmarking, gap closure analysis, and preliminary technical and economic feasibility studies for the modification of or addition to existing chemical recovery systems

  • Engaged in facilities performance expectations to meet optimized base case and supporting mill operations sustaining improvements

  • Accountable for creating value through technical support of multiple mill operations and being a valued resource in their day to day operations

  • Providing engineering support for development of capital projects for recausticizing and evaporator operations

  • Check-out and start-up assistance for new or modified equipment and processes.

  • Developing next generation immersive technology and experimental platforms

  • Providing forced outage and maintenance outage support

  • Process support of advanced control platforms across the enterprise

  • Training of operators, supervisors, and process engineering personnel

  • Comply with Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance in all activities with the objective of achieving zero incidents

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Pulp and Paper Science

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the pulp & paper industry operations and engineering

  • Experience in process improvement and process optimization

  • Ability to travel at least 70%

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in mill operations, process engineering, and design engineering

  • Experience with process modeling and statistical methods

  • Experience with engineering projects
