Responsibilities:
Become an expert on the process chemistry, the operating philosophy, and the process design basis for the equipment in order to provide technical support to the operating areas
Effective use and compliance to OSHA-PSM elements including Process Hazards Analysis, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Review, Incident Investigation, and Standard Operating Procedures
Become the technical lead for work teams with a goal to identify and implement productivity projects to achieve improved safety, quality, attainment, yields, and cost
Lead the development of Front End Process Design Packages for capital improvements to address safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost opportunities
Clearly and effectively communicate (verbal and written) new ideas, recommendations, and continuous improvements with cross functional work teams
Identify and implement improvements on basic control schemes and advanced process control strategies
Develop and use plant tracking systems to monitor and improve performance of various process indicators (KPI's)
Successfully manage multiple priorities
Basic Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering
4+ years experience in process, production and/or manufacturing engineering within the chemical, petroleum and/or polymer industrial manufacturing environments
Strong commitment to process and occupational safety
Additional Qualifications:
7 years experience in process, production and/or manufacturing engineering within the chemical, petroleum or polymer industrial manufacturing environments preferred
Six Sigma certification preferred
Demonstrated experience in quality and statistical tools to drive operational improvements including control charts, process capability analysis, measurement system analysis, and root cause investigations
Ability to generate significant process improvements in areas of process safety, environmental systems, quality, yield, energy, and capacity
Experience in the fundamentals of production optimization and process design for a broad range of unit operations including reaction, hydrogenation, distillation, continuous centrifugation, filtration, heat exchange, slurry and liquid material transfer, and utility systems
Familiar with plant Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Experion or similar
Strong process and mechanical troubleshooting experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels of an organization (from hourly union employees to business leaders)
Strong computer skills, including process simulation and design tools, and statistical analysis software
