The Patient Access Educator is responsible for ensuring that all Patient Access team members are provided with a strong foundation of education and training at hire as well as providing strong remedial training for established staff. The Patient Access Educator is the teacher, resource, and change agent for these departments.
The Patient Access Educator utilizes independent judgment and analytical thinking to develop, administer, and monitor, education and training programs designed to meet department goals, operational needs, and improve customer experience. The Patient Access Educator works collaboratively with Registration Team Leader, Scheduling Team Leader, Medical Group Practice Managers, IS Applications team, Patient Accounting and Revenue Integrity Manager, and the Government Payer Specialist to achieve and maintain quality, customer service excellence and satisfaction, financial viability, and patient and visitor safety. The Educator will be required to take assignment when staffing requires. The Patient Access Educator will work in all sites in which department staff work.
Reports to: Team Leader, Patient Access
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree or equivalent; at least three (3) years of experience in patient access including registration, authorization, scheduling, and familiarity of medical billing; three (3) years of experience in teaching, presenting and education of associates; proficiency in Microsoft products including PowerPoint.
Success Factors:
Assists leadership in the delivery of services to patients, staff, and the SCH community by developing and maintaining a centralized knowledge base for the department. Maintains a thorough knowledge of insurances, and proficiency of all systems used, ensuring the integrity of the data.
Understands that good front end practice supports patient care follow up and revenue capture. Acts as a role model and resource for the department. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
