Delegation of Authority

As Staff Developer, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. No direct supervisory functions. This job description does not list all the duties of the job. You may be asked by the supervisors or managers to perform other duties. You will be evaluated in part based upon your performance of the tasks listed in this job description at anytime. This job description is not a contract for employment, and either you or the employer may terminate employment at any time, for any reason.

Working Conditions

Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility. Moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Works beyond normal working hours, weekend and holidays and on other shifts/positions as necessary. Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g. severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.). Attends and participates in continuing educational programs. Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment's, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. Communicates with nursing personnel, and other department personnel. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitor, etc. Is involve with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies and personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Job Requirements

  • Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate educational and on-the-job training programs.

  • Incorporate commercially produced instruction material and training aids into existing in-service programs as deemed necessary.

  • Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the in-service educational programs of this facility.

  • Develop, evaluate, and control the quality of in-service educational programs in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Secure, develop, and maintain record, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc., pertinent to in-service educational programs.

  • Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the in-service educational programs.

  • Work with the facility's consultants as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.

  • Assure that in-service training classrooms or areas are properly prepared before training classes begin.

  • Develop and implement a quality assurance program for in-service training.

  • Develop, direct and schedule refresher training, as necessary, for assigned staff and licensed professional personnel.

  • Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of orientation programs that orient newly hired personnel to their position, the facility's policies and procedure, resident rights and responsibilities, etc.

  • Assure that all personnel attend and participate in annual facility in-service training programs (e.g., OSHA, TB, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, Safety, Infection Control, Fire and Disaster Preparedness, etc.)

  • Assure that copies of lesson plans, instructor's qualifications, etc., are filed in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular or special in-service training sessions for staff to ensure they remain current on new procedures, changes in policies, etc.

  • Coordinate in-service activities and programs with all departments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Assure that individual employee training records are maintained and filed in the employee's personnel record.

  • Schedule in-service training programs according to the needs of each department.

  • Post notices of in-service training classes in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures.

  • Provide regular resident status updates to appropriate personnel.

Education and Experience

Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.

Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a nurse.

Must have, as a minimum, two(2) years experience in a nursing care facility.

Must possess skills in leadership and communication.

Must possess creativity, integrity, and initiative.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the resident served.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.

Must not pose a direct threat to the health of safety of other individuals in the workplace.

Specific Requirements

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and posses good communication skills.

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide training appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.

Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.

Essential involvement in discussions, recommendations, and actions of the Medical Executive Committee, the Credentials Committee, the Quality Committee of the Board, and presents for approval all medical staff actions/decisions to the Board of Directors. Licensure/Certification None Essential Functions * Interacts with physician medical staff leadership, senior leadership, and other departments to develop and promote the physician led quality strategy for the organization. * Works in concert with legal counsel and medical staff leadership to facilitate amendments to medical staff governance documents to ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, legal, and accreditation bodies and their required standards, as well as with medical staff bylaws, policies/procedures, and rules & regulations for all facilities. * Develop and maintain metric driven scorecard for credentialing and re-credentialing. * Exhibits and promotes within the Medical Staff Services department excellent customer service to medical staff leaders, medical staff members, medical staff applicants, hospital administration, and internal and external customers. * Develops and implements all credentialing and privileging processes and procedures for all physicians and allied health practitioners, including establishing qualifying criteria for initial appointment. * Primary responsibility for development of quality result reporting process in collaboration with Risk Management, Quality Improvement, and Information Services Departments. * Plans, organizes, leads and directs Medical Staff Services administration team activities; appropriately addresses staffing needs, hires, and trains, evaluates, disciplines and manages team, including establishing goals and objectives for the development of departmental human resources. Prepares, tracks, and manages fiscal budget and restricted account. * Primary responsibility for strategic planning and development, integration and implementation, orientation and training, system upgrades/updates, and systems reporting to all downstream systems from the ECHO physician workflow system. * Actively participates in organizational strategic objectives from the perspective of the medical staff. * Directs physician investigations (both behavioral and clinical competency), notifies practitioner of adverse action, and administers the Fair Hearing & Appeal Process, as required. * Ensures accuracy of system-wide process for distribution of clinical privileges to numerous internal clinical service areas.
