Role Summary:

The Staff Data Scientist will be part of a data science or cross-disciplinary team on projects typically involving large, complex data sets. These teams typically include statisticians, computer scientists, software developers, engineers, product managers, and end users, working in concert with partners in GE business units.

Essential Responsibilities:

Potential application areas include operations optimization.

Act as thought leader for the use of data and analytics to drive critical business decisions, business strategy and able to serve as coach / mentor for data scientists in the team.

Lead cross-functional teams and provide business / functional perspective to data-related projects and support problem scoping and structuring.

Lead data related activities to support development of data science approaches and methodologies.

Work in technical teams in development, deployment, and application of applied analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.

Ensure customer adoption and drive consumption of analytics.

Conduct project reviews, feasibility, prioritization, initiation, execution, user acceptance, operationalization for all project work related the data science and software development connected to the process.

Maintain effective working relationship with business leaders, stakeholders, users and partners to integrate programs into overall strategic objectives.

Engage in a clear communications rhythm with other portions of the Data Science and Analytics teams.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a "STEM" major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)

Minimum of 5 years experience with analytics development for industrial applications in a commercial/industrial setting

Eligibility Requirements:

Desired Characteristics:

Demonstrated skill in data management methods

Demonstrated skill in feature extraction and realtime analytics development and deployment

Demonstrated skill in prescriptive analytics and analytic prototyping

The Staff Self-Service Data Engineer will be responsible for supporting and coaching Self-Service Data users in Alation, Dataiku Data Science Studio, and Spotfire, automating and integrating Self-Service Data tools and processes, and creating new learning material. Essential Responsibilities: The Sr. Staff Self-Service Data Engineer will be part of the Self-Service Data team in the Chief Data Officer Organization (CDOO). This team focuses on driving Digital Transformation by enabling teams and individuals across the organization to create and develop their own data products using Self-Service Data, regardless of their level of technical expertise. To do this, Self-Service Data team members consistently strive to reduce technical hurdles, simplify access to data, automate data processes, and act as subject matter experts who coach and consult business partners. Self-Service Data users have a broad range of experience and business objectives, ranging from those who are new to SQL and data lake concepts to those who create predictive models for jet engines using Spark. As a Sr. Staff Self-Service Data Engineer you will work across this broad set of users and business cases to drive multiple outcomes and enhance the Digital capabilities of the organization. To meet these responsibilities the Sr. Staff Self-Service Data Engineer should have the below competencies: Knowledge of Greenplum/Postgres databases Knowledge of Hortonworks (HIVE)/HDFS databases and architecture Knowledge of data lake concepts Knowledge of SQL Knowledge of Python Understanding of data processing on computing resources (ex.
