Job Description Summary:

The Staff Chaplain at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital provides pastoral care and counseling in diverse, acute/non-acute healthcare environments and community settings, including but not limited to the inpatient hospital, outpatient offices and clinics, free-standing emergency departments, and/or other locations as assigned. The Staff Chaplain strives to provide optimal pastoral care and spiritual support to our patients, their family members & friends, and other hospital staff throughout the assigned healthcare setting. The Staff Chaplain has many duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to actively serving as a member of an interfaith Pastoral Care staff, visiting with patients (including on-call and other routine rounding responsibilities), collaborating with other chaplains and clinical staff to provide excellent patient care, intentionally serving and caring for the hospital staff, participating in meetings & committees, and providing meaningful worship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree from a college, university, or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Accreditation (www. chea. org). Graduate-level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Accreditation (www. chea. org; www. ats. edu). Degree must include a minimum of 72 semester hours (108 quarter hours) of credit and qualify as a Master of Divinity equivalent. Master of Divinity preferred.

Provide documentation of ordination, current endorsement or good standing in accordance with the requirements of his/her own faith tradition or endorsing agency. Four units of Clinical Pastoral (ACPE, NACC, CASC). Certification or Certification -eligible as recognized by the following Spiritual Care organizations Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Association of Professional Chaplains, Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, National Association of Catholic Chaplains and Neshama Associatione of Jewish Chaplains; or others as agreed upon by the Director of Pastoral Care and VP of Mission and Ministry that meet the Common Qualifications and Competencies for Professional Chaplains (www. professional chaplains. org/files/2017%20Common%20Qualifications%20and%20Competencies%20for%20Professional%20Chaplains. pdf). Demonstrated skill set and professional ethics that meet both the Common Qualifications and Competencies for Professional Chaplains and the Common Code of Ethics for Chaplains, Pastoral Counselors, Pastoral Educators and Students (www. professional chaplains. org/files/professional standards/common standards/common_code_ethics. pdf). Initial employment of an individual chaplain who has not yet completed requirements for Certification may be done with approval by the Director of Pastoral Care and only with an approved plan and timeline for compliance.
