About the team

The Experience team is a newly-formed group of engineers, designers, QA, and product professionals with two main responsibilities. First, it ensures the highest quality user experience for advisors' clients on the Altruist platform, managing both the client mobile and web app code bases. Second, it leads high-usability product initiatives on the advisor platform. The Experience team's areas of ownership include horizontal features such as search, dashboards, document stores, and the client's user experience. The team operates with well-defined goals, KPIs, and strong support from the entire company.

What you'll do

• Work with Product to refine requirements and turn them into high-quality product launches

• Work with Product and your manager to create half-year project roadmaps

• Lead back end initiatives to improve the performance of some key surfaces like the global search, advisor dashboard, and the client experience

• Work with partner teams on consolidating data from across the company into performant derived data sets to power search and dashboards

• Work with a team of client-side engineers on delivering 0-1 features

• Coach and mentor junior developers and take responsibility for meeting deadlines for your team's deliverables

• Lead with engineering best practices and make decisions based on measurable impact

• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, autonomy, and open communication across teams

What you'll bring

• 8+ years of building scalable RESTful back-end services using one or more backend technologies (eg. Java/Kotlin)

• Strong grasp of SQL and NoSQL database technologies databases like Postgres, Snowflake; data tools like Airflow, DBT

• Experience leading projects with multiple stakeholders from ideation to launch

• Experience with working in a cross-functional team that touches many of the core services powering Altruist

• Experience with event driven development

• Experience with performance optimization and/or search (ElasticSearch a plus)

• Strong understanding of caching technologies like CDN, Redis, and Memcache

• Experience building on cloud technologies like AWS

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Los Angeles, CA salary range

$181,000-$226,000 USD

Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package along with equity in the form of Stock Options (ISOs). A salary offer will be determined by a number of factors including experience, skill level, internal pay equity, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
