Position Description

Provide auditing skills for the purpose of evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of Ryder's systems of internal control.



  • Bachelor's of Arts or Science in Accounting

  • Knowledge of IIA Standards on Auditing, GAAS and GAAP

  • Entry level business experience, preferably one year or less

  • Public accounting, internal audit department and/or multidimensional corporate experience

  • Willingness to travel up to 40%


  • Basic understanding of operational audit process, with some financial audit skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Ability to interact with all levels of management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to balance multiple concurrent priorities

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel


  • Perform Sarbanes Oxley section 404, forensic, financial and operational audits to determine compliance with company requirements

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls

  • Performs background investigations as necessary

  • Interviews appropriate personnel

  • Determines data requirements to accumulates, verify and analyzes available data

  • Observes actual practices and evaluates functional operating techniques

  • Identifies existing or potential problem areas

  • Inspect, identify and document systems of internal financial and operational control through interviews, documents, questionnaires and manuals

  • Prepare flowcharts or narratives of systems and determine reliability and compliance by testing key control points

  • Analyze evidence, reach conclusions, suggest ideas for audit efficiencies and participate in the development of draft audit reports
