Summary

Under the direction of an Audit Senior or Audit Manager, the staff auditor is responsible for performing internal audits over financial, operational, and compliance audit areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complies with and stays abreast of Bank policies and procedures, federal and state laws applicable to the job.
  • Assist with internal audits of business financial centers and departments in accordance with the Audit Plan.
  • Identifies and detects control deficiencies and potential fraud and recommends control procedures to strengthen controls and prevent and deter fraud.
  • Maintains an ongoing professional desire in seeking ways to improve the Bank's internal audit practice, including audit program approaches, cost efficiencies, and team building.
  • Assist Senior Internal Auditor in the process of ensuring all audit work papers and reports meet quality control standards and required time lines.
  • Maintains accurate and current audit and internal control procedures, programs and related documentation.
  • Maintains good working knowledge and awareness of financial industry audit control and trends.
  • Assist with special projects and/or investigations as they arise.
  • Provide, present and promote The Citizens Experience to all external and internal customers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or 2 - 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of an audit background in financial institution operations, lending and financial reporting.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Access.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

CPA or CIA is desired.

Other Qualifications

  • Must possess some knowledge of Bank financial accounting, operations and lending functions and services, related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Bank operational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi task.
