Staff Associate I (Wyldlife, Part-Time)

Cloquet Area Young Life is looking to hire a WyldLife staff associate to lead one middle school ministry focused on the small towns of Cloquet, Esko and Carlton, Minn. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a ministry and directly impact the lives of many middle schoolers. The surrounding Cloquet area has potential to impact more than 10,000 middle school students.

We are an established area, started in 2001, with an area director focused on high school ministry and have expanded to include a middle school ministry that now needs someone to oversee it full-time. We are looking for someone to join our community of staff, committee and volunteers in the mission of reaching the next kid. Currently we have more than 35 volunteers on our support teams (committee, high school Young Life, and WyldLife). We are hoping with this position to bring more leadership to the area and grow and expand our ministry impact.

Responsibilities:

• The role of the WyldLife staff associate is such a vital part of the area's growth, development and sustainability. It is also a place where you will be mentored by and share community with the area director and committee. As you lead volunteers and reach out to students, you will also receive excellent training and development.

• This staff person can expect to:

• • Participate in and lead dynamic direct ministry in the area (club, Campaigners, contact work, camp).
• • Train and equip a community of volunteer leaders who love each other and are growing in spiritual depth to plan and implement outreach ministry with excellence.
• • Work with area staff to coordinate and lead adventures: leader retreats, winter trips, summer trips.
• • Serve on summer and school season assignments at a Young Life camp.
• • Develop key relationships with adults in the greater Cloquet area.
• • Work closely with parents to better love and engage their kids.
• • Develop a deep and solid relationship with the three main schools of Cloquet, Esko and Carlton -- as well as the greater community.
• • Raise financial support as directed.
• • Care for donors well by sharing the area's vision and ministry successes.
• • Attend Regional Staff Associate training and learn alongside other staff in the Cloquet Area.
• • Complete Young Life training courses (New Staff Training, Leadership I, Leadership II, Winter Training, and Apologetics).

• This role is intended for someone who wants to build the current WyldLife ministry in the area and has a heart for our middle schoolers. With time, there will be opportunities to grow into more senior roles in the area, including supervision of new staff.

Qualifications:

• A healthy, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the ability to lead spiritually.

• A passion for kids and the ministry of Young Life.

• Young Life volunteer leader experience (student staff or equivalent experience preferred).

• Proven relational and leadership skills with both kids and adults.

• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects.

• Willingness to raise personal financial support.

• Willingness to commit to three years in the area to grow ministry and network across the community.

Notes:

The city of Cloquet borders Fond du Lac Native Reservation. Ten percent of Cloquet's students are Indian American so we intentionally learn more about and respectfully engage this community that is engrained into the area. We prioritize actively trying to reconcile past and present hurts.

Carlton County is number six of 87 in Minnesota for suicides. In our mission it is a high priority to engage students' mental health as well as their spiritual health.

Duluth, Minn., is only 15 minutes northeast of Cloquet. It is the third largest city in Minnesota outside of Minneapolis/St. Paul. However, it unfortunately does not have a Young Life presence in it yet. Many students commute from this area to participate in our programs because they know friends who attend from Cloquet. But our hope in the next 10 years is to engage Duluth and make its own programming.
