Job Summary
Description
This position will be responsible for providing engineering support to Asset Integrity Management program for Upstream oil & gas production facilities. The primary focus of the AIM will be fixed equipment (pressure vessels, facility piping, pipeline and tanks) utilizing Risk Based Inspection (RBI) and Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) to mitigate and manage process safety risk. The successful candidate shall have experience in fixed equipment mechanical integrity, including knowledge of industry standards and code requirements for safe operating on-shore upstream production equipment.
The Staff Asset Integrity Engineer will report to the Permian Business Unit Asset Integrity Supervisor, and will be part of a team of discipline engineers which will have responsibility to develop and maintain the Engineering Philosophies, Specifications and Standards, to provide assurance on facility designs and application of engineering practices, and to drive consistency of standards and practices across the Capital Projects, Base Projects, and Operating groups in the Permian assets.
Job Description
Responsibilities may include:
Perform risk assessments within Risk Based Inspection program to ensure mechanical integrity of surface production equipment
Compliance of pressure vessel, piping, storage tank and relief device inspection testing requirements for new and existing equipment
Own fixed equipment deficiency management process and resolution
Investigate equipment failures and loss facilitate FEMI driven RCFAs; implement findings; provide budgeting recommendations based on written risk and economic justifications; review planning, scheduling and effectiveness of predictive FEMI inspection including RBI principles activities with the FEMI inspection specialists. Additional accountabilities include providing technical support for project design proposals technical review of proposals to increase productivity and efficiency of upstream operations and contribute to planning and strategies for safety and FEMI goals
Support daily activities/scope of the inspection team & inspection data management system to ensure regulatory and company mechanical integrity compliance
Develop/Review/Manage inspection test plans in accordance with equipment history, identified damage mechanisms, reliability, and operability department goals
Develop, modify, and maintain inspection procedures
Review results of inspection and produce recommendations on repairs or mitigation options
Conduct or facilitate basic fitness for service assessments with supporting data and calculations for determination of remaining life based on observed damage mechanisms
Support site discipline engineers with input to:
Modify or approve pipe and equipment specifications for repairs or capital projects as needed
Ensure procedures used in welding and repairs meets engineering codes and Industry Standards
Provide guidance in materials of construction and fabrication standard processes
Research and monitor technology changes that could improve future FEMI strategies
Regularly communicate with supervisor and stakeholders on inspection plan, work progress, concerns, and program KPI (including budget)
Consistently contribute to improving productivity and efficiency
Accurate and timely completion of FEMI assessments/evaluations, recommendations, and technical supporting data
Effective alleviation of unplanned downtime or failures
Efficient and timely completion of projects within schedule and budget
Follow all company policies and procedures
Basic/Required:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
5+ years of experience in the petrochemical industry
3+ years of experience in risk-based inspection, equipment design, fabrication, repair codes, corrosion, damage mechanisms, and materials
Intermediate knowledge of upstream production FEMI procedures including safety procedures involving repair and maintenance of compliance equipment
Intermediate proficiency with API 510, 530, 570, 571, 650, 653, 570, 580, 581, and/or ASME Codes such as: Sect. II, V, VIII 1/2, XI, B31.3, B31.1, B31 Section G, and B31.8
Intermediate proficiency skills in MS Office suite
Basic proficiency of interpreting Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) equipment, UT, PT, MT and VT and interpreting Radiographic Film
Preferred:
API 510, 570, 571, 580, 653 certifications
5+ years of experience with Inspection Database Management Systems
5+ years of program and Project management experience
Ability to perform API 579 based Level 1 & 2 fitness for service evaluations
Ability to read isometric drawings, address mechanical issues and write engineering performance requirements
Ability to analyze, reason and tackle increasingly complex problems
Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs
Fluent in English, verbal and written
Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
