As an Application Engineer, you will have the opportunity drive one of the biggest disruptions in the server industry in more than a decade. ThunderX is a game changer server processor for next generation Data Center and Cloud applications and is getting tremendous traction in the industry.

You will be part of a dynamic team that is at the fore front of driving this disruption. In this role you will:

  • Work closely with Marvell's large end user, OEM and ODM customers on understanding their platform SW architecture and requirements. Then work closely with Marvell's SW Engineering team on driving DPG platform software requirements (e.g. diagnostics SW, UEFI/BIOS SW, Server Management SW etc.) and necessary SW architecture into their development plan.

  • In conjunction with Marvell's SW team, develop and drive platform SW development plans for Marvell's customer reference platforms.

  • Identify and drive key third party platform SW engagements around ThunderX Data Center processor.

  • Help Marvell's large end user customers, OEMs and ODMs to leverage Marvell developed, open source and third party platform SW into their platforms based on ThunderX.

  • Develop detailed documentations, white papers around Marvell platform software

  • Work closely with Marvell's FAE team on providing bring up and debug support to ThunderX customers. Train FAEs to support platform SW for ThunderX Requires:

    Experience with modern server architecture and platform SW (e.g. BIOS/UEFI or BMC software). Diagnostics and low level SW development for server platforms. Experience in bring up and verification of server platforms including DDR memory systems, PCIE, Ethernet, Storage (SAS/SATA) etc. is highly desirable Hands-on experience in embedded and server SW development using C and C++, creating documentation and collateral materials Experience with Linux OS, including kernel module (driver) development and application development is highly desirable.

    Working knowledge of SDK and BDK development environment is highly desirable. The candidate is expected to be multitasking and have abilities efficiently support parallel efforts (customer issues, prototyping/architecture, implementation, etc.). Ability to write and debug code to run on processors with or without an OS, to develop technical focused collaterals including demos, whitepapers, design guides, reference architectures and application notes, provide assistance with RFI, RFPs, etc Good understanding of networking and hands-on experience on compilers, tool chains, and debuggers for Linux development Experience with GNU/Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, RedHat, Debian etc. Familiarity with open-source project development cycles and contribution processes Must have effective interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.

    Excellent communication skills to interface internally and externally and to participate in problem solving and quality improvement activities. Demonstrates good analysis and problem-solving skills. Grounded, detail-oriented, always backs up ideas with facts.

    Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. BSCS/BSEE or equivalent and 8+ years' experience in software development including embedded and server applications Hands on experience with low level platform SW/firmware including working closely on hardware bring up and debugging.
