Staff Analyst Trainee I (TA): $49,599 - $52,571 (New Hire rate: $43,129)

Staff Analyst Trainee II (TA): $53,565 - $59,520 (New Hire rate: $46,580)

Staff Analyst Trainee I (OA): $50,924 - $53,980

Staff Analyst Trainee II (OA): $55,001 - $61,111

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will provide assistance to serve as the administrator for all MTA Bus Electronic Security System (ESS). The candidate will be responsible for assisting with the system administration, configuration, remedial and preventive maintenance of all Electronic Security Systems including, but not limited to Access Control, Video Management, Intrusion Detection, License Plate Recognition Systems and all other associated ESS subsystems and equipment. In addition, the incumbent will provide assistance to the Director of ESS with the development and coordination of ESS training, programs, projects, and initiatives. These tasks include:

  • Perform daily systems checks, ensure all Access Control, Video Management, Intrusion Detection, License Plate Recognition Systems and all other associated ESS sub-systems and equipment are online and operational. Perform regular system tests to ensure system data integrity and accuracy.

  • Programming of access panels, reader interface modules, card readers, contacts including, but not limited to device/camera links, creating schedules, time zones, access level, user accounts, local and global hardware linkages and deactivating lost/stolen badges.

  • Arrange installations, maintenance, and repair of cameras and ESS equipment.

  • Identify, plan and schedule periodic maintenance intervals.

  • Troubleshoot network, systems, workstations, and applications to identify /correct malfunctions and coordinates with outside vendor as necessary.

  • Provide direct technical support to system end-users.

  • Develop and provide hands-on ESS training to Security Management, guards, and other system and end-users.

  • Assist with the researching, developing, designing, and testing of ESS equipment, components, products and systems with the goal of fully optimizing security investments and programs.

  • Receive daily requests for Access Control System addition/deletions/changes, completes requests, replies with confirmations, and retains a record of access requests.

  • Acquire, documents and maintain ESS IP Addresses as needed.

  • Collect and maintain full network diagrams and maintain as-built designs.

  • May be required to assist in the development of security project requirements, designs, determine deliverables and write scopes of work as needed.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Staff Analyst Trainee I:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or

  • An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; or in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; or in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification; or in personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education, or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or

  • A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma or its education equivalent.

Staff Analyst Trainee II:

Completion of 1 year of satisfactory service as a Staff Analyst Trainee I

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to collect, analyze and interpret data from verbal and written sources.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Project, as well as MS Windows operating environment.

  • Experience with SO computer networking and creating databases, statistical models, charts, graphs, and link analysis.

  • Must possess the ability to work in a high-intensity environment.

  • Experience working in intelligence, communications, security, law enforcement, military, or data centers are preferred.

  • Valid government security clearance is desired.
