Responsibilities

  • Process various military personnel actions, such as evaluations, pay, promotions and separations using an automated personnel system.

  • Provide technical guidance with administrative functions.

  • Maintain suspense log within established timeframe.

  • Provide assistance to a wide variety of administrative programs necessary for day-to-day operations

  • Coordinate and supervise training of personnel on administrative duties.

  • Review incoming regulations relating to personnel programs.

  • Ensure correspondence is distributed to proper office.

  • Review correspondence for proper grammar and format.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - The business travel requirement is 10%.

Qualifications

This is a military technician position with the US Army Reserves. Becoming a Military Technician allows you to experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the US Army Reserve Military Technician program. Military Technicians are a vital link between the US Army Reserves and civil service and are one of the most important keys to combat readiness.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: general administrative functions and military procedures within a unit or activity; development and dissemination of administrative directives, consolidation of reports, management of correspondence, records, and mail, and the preparation of personnel and/or pay actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
