Overview

Amyx is seeking an energized and seasoned Staff Action Control Officer (SACO) to fill a critical administrative/action officer position in a fast-paced Department of Defense (DoD) organization. The candidate will provide personalized and organized action officer support to the SES-1 Director for Mission Support (MS) within the Operations and Integration (OI) Directorate, Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). The candidate should possess strong relationship management skills as well as cross-departmental communication skills to address challenges, find solutions, and adapt to each day's requirements to ensure a smooth-running office. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure while juggling multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

Amyx is seeking to hire a Staff Action Control Officer (SACO) to support our SES-1 Director for Mission Support (MS) within the Operations and Integration (OI) Directorate, Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). This position will be located primarily Reston, Virginia with the possibility of working 1-2 days a week at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.

The SACO's primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

  • The contractor will oversee all office administrative functions for the OI-MS Department Head and his deputy, an Army Colonel (COL), to include maintaining multiple calendars on multiple networks, protecting time management by anticipating needs, streamlining events, and resolving scheduling conflicts, as well as directing all day-to-day office activities. Maintain situational awareness by keeping the Department Head informed of relevant organizational events, to include daily/weekly meetings, long-range calendars, key leader engagements, as well as tasks and other due-outs.

    Act as a liaison between the OI-MS Department Head and the rest of the OI-MS Staff, as well as other DTRA Department Heads, to include their respective administrative and SACO staffs. Interface and correspond with external executive agencies, to include the offices of high level Department of Defense officials, Interagency and Intelligence communities, as well as academia and the public sector. Coordinate all aspects of official travel for the Department Head, to include local, domestic, and overseas travel using Defense Travel System (DTS). Ensure travel mode and expenses are in accordance with DTRA's policy as well as the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR); Ensure overseas travel complies with the rules and conditions set in the Foreign Clearance Guide (FCG). Manage flow of correspondence, classified and unclassified.

    Review and coordinate responses on incoming correspondence. Review documents for official signature, coordination or concurrence, for accuracy and completeness, conformance with style, format, or procedural requirements and guidelines. Ensure correspondence/products for tasks are in line with the underlying DTRA requirement.

    Edit and produce final copies of formal correspondence, correspondence summaries, briefings, reports and a wide variety of other analytical documents, to include financial spreadsheets, talking points, speeches, and travel itineraries. Track and distribute track OI-MS Department Head's action items to the appropriate program manager and/or directorate. Establish and maintain office files and databases, to include an electronic data files architecture consistent with DoD standards for Records Management.

    Assist with official visitor arrangements, to include preparing conference rooms and setting up video teleconferences (VTC). Coordinate and schedule annual training requirements for the OI-MS Department Head. Adhere to organizational-wide administrative standard operating procedures, such as attending weekly calendar synchronization meetings, updating contact and alert rosters, contributing to the Senior Leader travel tracker, and, where applicable, updating the organizational-wide master calendar.

Supported Technologies: Proficient using Defense Travel System (DTS), to include creating local and overseas travel and subsequent vouchers upon travel completion Strong computer skills including demonstrated fluency in all Microsoft programs, to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Experience with SharePoint Experience with Adobe Pro Experience with Skype

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Possess a current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility Five years' experience as a Staff Action Control Officer, or a similar position, such as an Operations Officer, Action Officer, Office Manager, or a Senior Administrative Assistant One year experience using Defense Travel System (DTS) Familiarity with the Joint Travel Regulation Familiarity with the Foreign Clearance Guide Hands-on experience with internal and/or external tasking systems, such as Enterprise Information System (EIS) Familiarity with the DoD Manual for Written Material: Correspondence Management

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Familiarity with the DTRA Mission (current or a former employee a plus) Previous experience as a Staff Action Control Officer, or a similar position Ability to work well with a diverse professional staff, take on special projects and work independently; can anticipate needs and plan accordingly.

Has the aptitude and agility to cope with frequent changes in priorities, as well as multiple interruptions throughout the day. Demonstrates the ability to work with confidential and sensitive information. Prior military or a government background in Operations or Information Technology is helpful, but not required.
