Staff Accountant Position Duties

Reports to Controller

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Senior Accountant with maintenance of fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system and maintain supporting documentation.

  • Track the completion of capital project costs into fixed asset accounts and capitalize completed projects.

  • Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.

  • Assist in preparation of tax work papers. Reconcile account balances to supporting documents, book journal entries as needed.

  • Assist the CFO and Controller with quarterly reporting and other projects as needed.

  • Work with corporate bookkeeper to perform the quarterly marketing fee billing.

Qualification include:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting strongly preferred

  • 1-2 years' experience in accounting

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Highly detail oriented and organized

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus

Job Functions / Responsibilities * Ensure compliance with Corporate, Division and Plant policies for product costing, inventory valuation, and effective internal controls. * Assist with cost, reserve and accrual analysis. * Maintain and review cost standards to ensure accuracy. * Perform account analyses and reconciliations. * Prepare, review and analyze monthly journal entries. * Assist with periodic inventories and other team oriented projects to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions. * Perform internal control reviews and Sarbanes Oxley reviews as assigned. * Participate in year-end closing activities (i.e. prepare various 10-K, tax and audit schedules). * Special projects as assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (CPA/MBA/CMA desired) required with 2 - 5 years accounting experience, preferably in cost accounting in a manufacturing or related environment. * Must be well organized with a strong attention to detail. * Must be effective and comfortable in team oriented environment. * Motivated to solve problems with a bias for action. * Ability to work with ambiguous tasks. * Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
