We are in search of a Staff Accountant with a specialization in taxation. This role will be based in Fairfax, VA and is a technical position which requires a sound working knowledge of fundamental accounting procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare accurate work papers for tax engagements under the direct supervision of a partner, manager, or supervisor as assigned

  • Effectively presents information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

  • Learns and upholds the Firms expectations for work quality and professional development as well as the Firms cultural and core values

  • Follows the progress of engagements and helps to identify and research issues as assigned

  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives and ongoing education opportunities including CPE development

Requirements (with or without accommodations):

  • Bachelors degree with no less than a 3.0 GPA

  • 150 hours required by the Virginia Board of Accountancy to acquire a CPA license

  • Working knowledge of GAAS, GAAP, and other professional standards and regulations

  • Displays the ability to make sound decisions under pressure

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Fluent in speaking, reading and writing the English language

  • CPA and/or Masters Degree preferred

Our Staff Tax Accountant must be organized, accurate, and detail-oriented while communicating effectively with others in a friendly, collaborative environment. You will have a direct impact on our Finance department and bottom line, so you must be comfortable working with sensitive information and meeting tight deadlines. You will work closely with other members of the Finance team while reporting to, and receiving guidance from, the Director of Tax and Compliance. What you'll do: As Staff Tax Accountant, you will play a key role in our tax planning and compliance efforts to reduce risk and improve our bottom line. To be effective, you will be highly organized and detail-oriented, and take full ownership in your opportunity for impact. You must thrive in a transactional work setting, be comfortable maintaining a consistent routine, and enjoy checking items off your "to-do" list each day. Our Finance team works closely and collaboratively with various internal and external partners, therefore strong communication skills and an ability to cultivate positive relationships is essential. Job responsibilities include: * Calculating GAAP-tax differences for our income tax returns * Conducting basic tax research and writing * Assisting with worldwide tax planning * Coordinating with external accountants on Custom Ink's international tax responsibilities * Responding to tax inquiries from Federal and state authorities * Reviewing income tax returns prepared by our external accountants * Preparing and reviewing monthly sales tax returns for CustomInk and all subsidiary companies * Assisting with the preparation of tax disclosures for our financial statements * Business licenses applications and renewals * Property tax returns * Assisting with the coordination and payment of quarterly tax distributions to the partners of Custom Ink * Tax organization and administrative support How you'll be measured: Proper execution of accounting and financial functions is critical to the successful administration of our business.
