Overview
What you will be doing:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the general ledger of several entities, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual analysis of all balance sheet accounts, cash management, fixed asset management, and monthly closings - all with a focus on our tax basis of accounting. The focus is on tax returns preparation and review and sales tax preparation and review.
This position is based out of our corporate office in Conshohocken, PA with an in-office schedule of Monday-Thursday with the option to work from home on Friday.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare journal entries from support statements and reconcile bank accounts
Prepare monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts and ensure all reconciling items are resolved in a timely manner
Reconcile daily P&L to the General Ledger; collaborate with colleagues in financial operations to obtain data and explain variances; report variances to management on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Reconciliation of balance sheet and P&L accounts between GAAP and tax set of books focusing on book to tax differences
Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports with regards to the tax basis
Ensure all month-end processes are followed and completed in a timely and accurate manner
Prepare year-end account analysis for year-end tax work papers
Tax Compliance and Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns or statements for assigned entities including footnotes and journal entries, including local tax return
Booking global tax entries
Processing of returns, quarterly estimated tax payments, certified mailings, K-1 processing
Perform sales and use tax analysis, calculation and filing on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as needed
Facilitate and respond to state and local tax authorities on tax audits and notices as requested
Support and Miscellaneous:
General Ledger preparation
Provide customer service to assigned entities with both our employees, partners, and outside accountants
Works on special projects and acquisition due diligence as requested
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university
1-2 years' related experience; tax experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel
Must be goal oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
Experience with fixed assets preferred
Yardi experience is a plus
