PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for the day to day recording and review of financial transactions. The associate will utilize systems to prepare variance analyses, performing account reconciliations and communicate with internal and external business partners.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Transactions and Reconciliation

  • Prepares, records, and/or analyzes financial transactions for assigned accounts.

  • Performs and/or reviews account reconciliations and analyses to identify issues in transaction processing.

  • Researches and proposes resolution for discrepancies.

  • Completes work in accordance with financial controls, firm policies, and regulations and demonstrates accountability/ownership for work completed.

Oversight and Analysis of Complex Accounting Matters

  • Provide oversight and analysis of functions outsourced to service providers.

Client and Operations Support

  • Interaction with other areas of the broader Fund Operations in support of client needs

  • Generates ideas and collaborates with others to improve existing processes and communication

  • Interacts with associates primarily in operations, investment staff and external customers to research and respond to questions and resolve discrepancies.

  • Escalates questions to manager as needed

Strategic Initiatives

  • Supports management on strategic and tactical special projects

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • College degree in Accounting/Finance, or

  • Associate degree and a minimum of 3 years related work experience, or

  • High school diploma/equivalent and a minimum of 5 years related work experience

  • Proficient in Excel and PC skills

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles

  • Strong communication skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team

  • Works well independently and in a team environment. Comfortable in a matrixed environment

Preferred

  • Working toward CPA or CMA
  • Experience with mutual funds

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for accurately handling day-to-day accounting processes and financial information, including monthly and quarterly close processes, in order for the team to achieve its objective of ensuring the accuracy and integrity of T. Rowe Price Group and its subsidiary financial information. The position will review, record, and reconcile financial transactions, investigate and resolve issues, and perform analysis that is used in the compilation of statutory and regulatory financial reports required to be filed in the U.S. and international jurisdictions in which the firm operates. The role will also support management on strategic and tactical special projects as they arise. The position is expected to have substantial knowledge of U.S. accounting principles and practices. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Account Reconciliation * Prepares, records and analyzes financial transactions to accumulate and record accurate and timely financial history. * Performs account reconciliations and analyses to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures, integrity of account balances/financial and management reporting and effectiveness of business processes. * Researches and proposes resolution for discrepancies or identified issues. Managing Reporting Standards * Assists or prepares schedules to support regulatory, statutory, or management reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. * Generates ideas and collaborates with others to improve existing process, communication and recordkeeping. * Create and execute financial reports/queries from numerous financial systems and tools to provide management with timely information to make informed business decisions * Performs various accounting functions related to TRPG close and financial reporting Maintaining Control Environment * Ad hoc reporting and related analysis with a focus on accuracy and completeness. * Assists to develop, maintain and ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards. QUALIFICATIONS Preferred * CPA, or CMA certification strongly preferred * Experience with ERP Systems * 2+ years experience in public accounting Required * Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance * Substantial knowledge of accounting principles * Advanced proficiency in MS Excel * Strong analytical skills along with sound judgment * Ability to prioritize multiple functions and work with limited supervision. * Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills * Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and perform work for a number of different supervisors and managers * Works well independently and in a team environment.
