The Opportunity

As the company continues to grow Ortho is seeking a Staff Accountant to work in our Shared Service Center in Rochester NY. This Staff Accountant will participate as an integral member of the accounting team through handling of daily accounting tasks, seeking process improvements as well as identifying methods to improve business performance, reporting, and compliance. This position will also support the vendor maintenance process through the setup and continued maintenance of vendor records.

The Responsibilities

  • Support the US Intercompany Payable and Intercompany Receivable accounting process

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis

  • Monitor financial transactions related to Goods Receipts/Invoice Receipts (GR/IR)

  • Assist with audits, period end, quarter end and year end accounting processes

  • Cross-train on other general accounting tasks to act as backup

  • Engage with vendors to support the setup and continued maintenance of vendor records

  • Update and maintain process documentation (e.g. work instructions, standard operating procedures, etc.)

  • Complete other assignments as requested

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to this list of primary responsibilities

The Requirements

  • Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Experience:

  • 3+ years relevant work experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP

  • Skills:

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management

  • Strong organizational skills required to coordinate and manage across multiple organizations, processes and initiatives

  • Knowledge of SAP a plus
