The ideal candidate for this position can prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. Major responsibilities

  • Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses

  • Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting

  • In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

  • Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries

  • Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable

  • Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail

  • 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Proficient with Excel and Yardi

  • Proficiency in bank reconciliations

  • Accounts receivable experience

  • Solid understanding of accounts payable

  • Foundational knowledge in commercial real estate

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
