This full-time Staff Accountant position is with a terrific Printing/Publishing company. This company, based in the Pompano Beach, Florida area, offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded. You will succeed in this position if you have the ability to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. Participation in compliance, interaction with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and reviewing schedules reporting processes are also expected tasks. This is a position you will thrive in, if you have a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. How you will make an impact

  • Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

  • Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on

  • Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

  • Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Take part in various department-wide initiatives

  • Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision


  • Solid understanding of accounts payable

  • Well-founded grasp of inventory a plus

  • Expertise in accounts receivable

  • General familiarity with inventory analysis a plus

  • New accounts experience highly desired

  • Proven knowledge of full charge bookkeeping

  • Intercompany accounts experience

  • Practical knowledge of inventory planning reporting a plus

  • Proficiency in accounts receivable aging

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • Great attention to detail

  • Skilled with ERP systems - experienced organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Responsibilities * Works closely with Project Managers and Project Controllers on all facets of project accounting and administration issues. * Accesses Timberline to: * Set up projects, cost codes, budgets and contracts. * Enter in change orders and verify contract values match. * Post the monthly owner requisition. * Process all accounts payable invoices. * Post daily deposits. * Prepares monthly pay requisitions. * Ensures accuracy of cost coding and processing. * Codes expense reports and G&A invoices. * Submits all new vendor requests. * Communicates with subcontractors to acquire necessary documents for processing of payments (i.e. insurance requirements, waivers, billing procedures, etc.) * Selects invoices to be included in the weekly disbursement cycle. * Tracks costs for third party labor companies and assist in the preparation of invoices. * Prepares and process job cost transfers as need. * Manages documentation flow as well as updates all relevant information related to requisitions and invoices. * Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Accounting. * One to three years of related experience. * Construction accounting experience is a plus. * Outstanding team player with good interpersonal skills.
