Preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation will be essential for this Staff Accountant role.   • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

  • Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

  • In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

  • Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers

  • Take part in various department-wide initiatives

  • Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on

  • Process accounts payable and reconciliation of company credit cards

  • Work with the third party inventory management company to accurately account for inventory

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting preferred

  • Great attention to detail

  • 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Inventory management or an understanding of inventory cycle counts and physical counts

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • General familiarity with month end closings

  • Background working with accounts payable

  • Previous experience working with journal entries

  • Earlier work involving W2 - 1099

  • T4 Preparation

  • Good understanding of US GAAP

  • Practical knowledge of bank reconciliations

  • Account reconciliation experience highly desired

  • Strong familiarity with general ledger

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Account analysis experience highly valued

  • Foundational knowledge in trial balance

  • Adeptness in accounts receivable

  • QuickBooks experience highly preferred
