Staff Accountant

Ripple Effect is looking for a Staff Accountant with two years of experience to be a part of our accounting team. This role will work closely with the Accounting Manager to assist in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded. This role will also support a wide variety of accounting related tasks including invoicing, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, bank reconciliations and other recordkeeping activities.

• Salary Range: $66,393.00 - $76,352.00 per year (how we pay and promote) 

Responsibilities 

• Enters data, maintains records and prepares accounting related reports in a timely manner.
• Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
• Supports recordkeeping activities by processing and filing financial related documents.
• Compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
• Prepares reports to assist in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses.
• May support documenting of accounting processes and procedures.
• Supports annual audits. 
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• 2 years of relevant experience.

Basic Requirements 

• Experience with accounting software or ERP system.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, as well as familiarity with MS Office products.
• Experience developing and successfully completing general ledger account reconciliations.
• Experience with the Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable process including preparing accounting entries and reconciling accounts
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Working Knowledge of GAAP accounting practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to interact with internal customers at all levels.
• Ability to report to Ripple Headquarters office (located in Rockville, MD) approximately 1-2 days a month.

Skills That Set You Apart 

• Experience creating journal entries
• Experience with government accounting and different types of government contracts (T&M, FFP, CP)
• Experience with government invoicing & government payment systems
• Working knowledge of the Payroll process
• Experience working in a consulting, project management, or staffing company
