Job Description Job Description Staff Accountant McLean, VA MUST: Experienced Staff Accountant 3 to 5 years working as a Staff Accountant with a focus on government contracts within a government contractor or similar organization.
Experience using Deltek GCS Accounting System and Deltek Timekeeping System Strong understanding of GAAP and its application to government contract accounting. Comprehensive knowledge of government contracting regulations, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements. Proficient in financial analysis, cost accounting, and budgeting processes.
Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; familiarity with data analytic and visualization software is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Possession of strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) qualification preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required. DUTIES: Prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. Staff Accountant with a strong background in government contracting to join our dynamic financial team.
Implementing financial processes related to government contracts. Stay up to date on federal accounting regulations, compliance, and reporting will ensure accurate financial data, maintain contract compliance, and support our organization's financial success. Oversee all aspects of federal / government contract accounting, including revenue recognition, billing, and cost allocation.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant government accounting standards (e.g., FAR, CAS) for contract-related financial transactions. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Generate project-specific financial reports to track revenue, costs, and profitability, providing insights into project performance.
Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, reconciling accounts, and preparing journal entries as necessary. Review and analyze general ledger transactions related to government contracts for accuracy and completeness. Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. Support senior management business decisions through financial and business analysis. Performs other related duties as assigned.
